I like Spring decorations! I enjoyed seeing all of Mary's bunnies a couple weeks ago, so I had to get mine out, too.
I like my friend, Maureen, who is in my local quilt group. Maureen is our member who really produces! I shared my Vinyl Project Pouch at our March get together, and last week at our April meeting she brought 5 or 6 of them she had made, in all different shapes and sizes!
Speaking of quilting, I liked making progress on my Hands2Help donation quilt earlier this week!
I was listening to the Friendship Album, 1933, podcast while I sewed. I'm really enjoying that story!
I like my current read, The Huntress, by Kate Quinn. One of my favorite genres is WWII historical fiction, and this one is right up my alley!
Part of the story line is about women pilots in the Russian army who flew bombing missions against Germany. That was something I had never heard about before, so I had to look it up. Sure enough, they were the 588th Night Bomber Regiment, known as the Night Witches. Here's the Wikipedia article about them. I love learning something new!
Our friend, Jocelyn, at Canadian Needle Nana, has gotten me interested in bird nesting cameras that you can look at online. There happens to be an osprey nest cam at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, in Longmont, Colorado, (not far from where I live) that I've been watching.
The nest notes from 2018 say that eggs were laid on April 19th, so I'm going to keep checking back - maybe we will see eggs this week!
It's too soon to plant here, but we're getting a new raised bed ready to go. We found this one at Menards, a big box store similar to Lowes or Home Depot, and Mike assembled it himself. I like the look of the dark gray and it's very sturdy!
Hopefully some veggies will like the warm sun on the south side of our house!
Every Thursday, I join in with LeeAnna and friends at Not Afraid of Color to celebrate our likes for the week. Be sure to head over and check out all of this week's posts!
Good Morning Diann! Oh, that raised bed looks so, so, so . . . past Spring! Woohoo! Thinking about veggies growing - ah I can't wait. Fresh sun-warmed tomatoes. Yum! That is so cool that Maureen took inspiration from your vinyl pouches. It looks like she made some cute ones. Your H2H donation quilt is really coming along. I love all the fun colors and fabrics in it! ~smile~ Roseanne
That book looks good so I checked the library for the kindle version and put myself on the wait list, I have two others I am reading first so maybe it will come by time I am done with those two.
I love bird nest watching too and so easy to do on the computer isn't it! And Mike and I just caught a view last night of a nest that we had heard about and it was on the news last night - it is near a place we camped in Illinois and it is a strange one as it has 2 males and 1 female feeding and watching over the baby eagles!
I noticed your quilting friend's pouches have kitties on them. ;)
Love that raised bed - it's a great color. I hope you have abundant veggies.
My husband and I watch birds in our yard from our big kitchen window. I'll have to check out the bird cams.
Your H2H quilt is really looking good!
The raised bed looks awesome. I have read about the Night Witches sounds like a great book. Cute bunnies. Have a Blessed Easter.
Good Morning, Diann ... :) Your quilting set up looks sew fun. I like to put on music and sweet scented hand cream under my gloves and relax and enjoy the quilting process. Pretty quilt. That book looks good. I like WW2 historical fiction, too. I had never heard about these women pilots. The raised bed looks nice. We have to make good use of our limited space and sun, too. we would also have to add some kind of fencing to keep the squirrels and the bunnies out of a veggie patch. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes and a hill of cucumbers is all I need from a garden and a few herbs. We need to plan a better veggie garden this year, Our old spot is too shaded now. A raised bed is a good idea ... <3 Pat
How fun to watch the nesting cameras! We have some nests (Bluejays and cardinals, opposite sides of the house) to see right out our windows this year. Your garden looks ready to plant . Menards is a fun store isn't it? Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!
I like your book suggestion...thank you. I like the Hands2help group too.
Hi Diann and thanks for the mention. It's a thrill to see our name in print always! I'm so happy you've found a cam close to your area. I'm following three now which is crazy, the Dale Hollow,Tennessee eagles, the Hellgate, Montana ospreys and of course the barred owls. I'm learning so much and thankful to Cornell for keeping these going.
Anyway, Love that daffodil table runner and those colours in the quilt are beautiful.
Our garden beds are snow free finally so hopefully soon I'll be digging in the dirt, too.
You are ready for spring with your quilt and your flower bed, etc. I'll have to take a look at that book!
Night Witches - what a great name! I've stumbled across a lot of nesting videos this year - technology is less invasive and getting all sorts of great shots. I like the looks of your raised bed. Neat!
Great likes! I love your quilt and enjoy watching your process of designing! We have falcons we can watch here! It's great fun! Have a great holiday!
goodreads just mentioned that book. is your podcast a book too? I really don't understand podcasts... need a tutorial. the poor osprey was standing stock still in the high winds in the dark just now... poor birds.
