I Like Thursday #53 -

I found this somewhere online the other day, and it is so true -

There are so many troubled people and places in the world today.  I am thankful daily for my home, family, friends, health, and blessings.  You, my online friends are definitely included in that!

This little corner of our house caught my eye yesterday, so I thought I would share it here.  The chair came from my grandparents' home and my mom needlepointed the seat cover for it many years ago.  Some of my favorite quilt projects are hanging on and around it.  It all makes me smile whenever I walk by!

Mary in Peoria Handmade recently shared her string backpack that she had made and enjoys using, so I thought I would share the one I've made, too.

It's all wrinkled because I use it a lot!  It's so handy for when you want both hands free or don't want to carry your purse.  The tutorial I used can be found HERE at Sew Can She.  It's called the Easy Peasy backpack, and it is!

I like these little charms I found to add to the zipper tabs of pouches I'm making.

I'm making one for my mom, and she has some trouble with her fingers these days, so I thought adding a little extra something to the zipper would make it easier to grip.  A little added bonus is that they say fun and positive things!

And here's what I do when the world gets to be too much -

And that's where I'm headed right now!  🤗  Happy Thursday!  Be sure to check out all of the other I Like Thursday posts over at LeeAnna's Not Afraid of Color.

I am very grateful for the cup too. Life isn't perfect, but my struggles are very pale compared to so many other places. The zipper charms are very fun. Enjoy your book!

I love your post this week! That quote is perfect and so is that little corner in your house--so sweet and welcoming! Your bag is great and I know your Mom will appreciate you making things easier for her. Hugs!

Using the zipper pulls will add a little spark to any bag you make, great idea. Yep grateful to have a cup or 2 here also:) Online friends are the best!!!

Hi Diann. Love those charms and great ideas to attache to zipper pull. I need to do that cause my thumbs are not cooperating. Love your bag, too. I need to use mine more often. It's so funny you mention reading to unwind, relax. I just purchased an Ebook which I normally don't do. I usually use the library, but wanted more time to just relax and read once in awhile instead of sewing.
Have a great week. mary

Hi Diann,
Both your quotes are spot on today! I agree about being thankful for having a cup. The zipper pulls are great! Where did you find them? They will be the perfect addition to your bags, and very helpful for your mom. You guys are making me want to make on of those easy peasy bags - I don't carry a purse but can see where that might be valuable sometimes! Thank you for the link. ~smile~ Roseanne

Love those zipper pulls. Coolness! I am also grateful for the cup. Mmmm... books. I've been spending so much time reading everything else is falling behind. Oops!

I love those zipper charms...so inspiring. It's so important for me to stay positive, and a little bling like those pulls helps me to stay focused on that. Have a great day!

Love your little corner with a few valued items gathered together. I never carry a purse in my hand and everything has to go around my neck or across my back so I always like to see bags. Easy peasy sounds like my speed! Zipper pulls are a great idea for both the young and old. Have a good weekend, Diann.

I love seeing the corner with your grandparent's rocking chair! I too have a rocking chair from my grandparent's and I keep thinking I should make a cushion for it. Another project on the list! But it's wonderful to have a few tangible memories.

Love that you are thankful to have a cup. Cute zipper pulls and I agree when the world get to be too much, grab a book and lose yourself.

I just realized you live in Oregon. I grew up in Oregon, born and raised.
