Corralling the Monkeys

The little pink monkey in the top left of the photo below is one of my favorites made in 2016 for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge pink month.  I had fun fussy cutting that pink bird for the center!

My goal this week was to get the monkey blocks into nine groups of four.

And then to sew all these bigger blocks into rows, and the rows together, with the first narrow border in Kona Navy surrounding the center.

This measures 42.75 inches square so far.

I hit one of those points this week where I wasn't sure I was happy with how this quilt was coming together so far.  But after getting the whole center sewn together and the first border on, my feelings about it changed, and I like what is happening!

This week, I'll add a second, wider outer border, using the Kona Maize, and that will bring the quilt up to about 52 inches square.  I'm not sure yet about backing and binding for this project - hopefully, I'll know it when I see it! :)

I adore this quilt! The layout is brilliant. I have filed it away in my mind palace for use someday.

I can't imagine why you weren't happy and so glad you had a realignment of your heart. I love the setting.

It's such a sunny little quilt. Looks like all the monkey's are behaving themselves now.

Seeing the final quilt come together always makes it seem just right. Somehow, once the blocks are sewn, they just belong. Congratulations on getting your flimsy together. It looks great!

It's funny how our feelings about a project can change over time.

A perfect, happy project! What are you going to do with it when it’s finished? I hope you keep it as a great reminder of all the fun you’ve had!

I love the "sashing" or framing you are using with the monkeys. It makes a very interesting quilt and adds movement. Now, who has ever heard of a monkey moving? lol. Great job! ;^)

Amazing job of corralling all those monkeys. They are so colorful and varied. The navy border seems just right. Can't wait to see,the finish.

Good thing you followed your first instinct on assembly because it is turning out so cute. Before long someone will have some little monkeys jumping on their bed!

Excellent! (Just be sure that last border is a good stout one - monkeys can be real escape artists!)

I really like your blocks. The pattern is unusual but they all go together and the navy just sets them off.
