Turkey Day is coming! This is my little homemade turkey, made from a pinecone and pipe cleaners. I'm not sure where it came from, or even who made it. One of my kids? Maybe years ago in Cub Scouts. I get it out every year around this time.
Have you been watching Ken Burns' The American Revolution on PBS? It's been on every night this week. I used to teach colonial American history in 5th grade, so this is fascinating to me. There's still lots to learn!
I finished a really good book this week. It is historical fiction, about the development of the Space Shuttle program in the 1980s, and specifically the first women to become astronauts. It's a very powerful story.
The weather has been so unusual here that I have played golf twice in the last week. It has been so fun to be outside with friends, getting in a good walk, lots of conversation, and now and then hitting the ball in the hole!
I think the weather is finally supposed to change to something more November-like, maybe even some snow, by tomorrow. We could definitely use the moisture!

That little turkey makes me smile! I'm going to watch Ken Burns documentary in a week or two (have it saved). Thanks for the tip on the book! Looks good!
My husband is watching the American Revolution documentary. My daughter loved that book. I want to read it too. I’m re-reading Small Things Like These right now as that is our Dec book club pick. Cute turkey! Gail at the cozy quilter.
Sweet little turkey! You must pack it away very carefully for it to still look so good. Hope you get your snow - it's very unusual for other areas of the country to get snow before you do!
Fun little turkey that graces your decor! We too have had some nice days. I love those. . .especially since it is dark for so long in the morning and so early in the afternoon! I'm glad you were able to get in a few rounds!
My kids also made those little turkeys. The American Revolution sounds like something we would enjoy. Atmosphere was our book for this month's club meeting. I missed it due to travel. I'll read it now, based on your feedback.
I'm taping the Ken Burns show, Love your Turkey, hope it gets cooler here soon

I remember making those turkeys--only I think we did our pipe cleaner into a loop--but they were the same fat pipe cleaners and pinecones--It is fun to bring out 'old' maybe worn out decorations for each holiday!!! hugs, di
Oh, adorable turkey! Happy Thanksgiving!
love your turkey! its cute. I have not seen that show - a rainy day here today, cooler than it has been also
Watching Ken Burns American Revolution. Riveting. Episode 4 last night was heart wrenching. What they went through in impossibly harsh circumstances. General Howe was an enigma to be sure.
Oh, I remember those pipe cleaners. We have that American Revolution series on my list of things to watch. Sounds great.
I'm watching The American Revolution, too. The 2 hour episodes are a bit challenging for me. I don't watch much TV anymore. I find myself nodding off during the last hour, but I am learning a lot. The founding fathers would be appalled at what is happening currently.

Well, this is going to really date me - I remember making a few of those turkeys as a kid! Yikes. That chenille was popular back then, for several projects. You give such good book recommendations, so I'm going to check this out. Glad you can be out golfing!
Aaw now that is one cute turkey and what a treasure to bring out each Thanksgiving . I am going to have to see if I can find the American Revolution on our channels. Have a great weekend. Hugs.
Very cute turkey! I have some of those treasures tucked up somewhere. So glad you've gotten out while the weather was good. Though I am ready to see a bit of cold weather. Just so long as it doesn't last too long.
