I Like Thursday #443

Good morning and happy Thursday!   LeeAnna's question of the week is about summer activities - would we rather dig in the garden or relax in the hammock with a good book?

And my answer is - both!  I garden on a very small scale - I enjoy trying to grow flowers and a few vegetables.  Just enough to add some color to the yard and to get some veggies to eat up right away.  It's always exciting when things grow!

First harvest!

I found this petunia in my flower garden the other day.  It came from the same batch as the red and white ones in the blue pot that I shared in my Sunday post, but it looks so different!

And, of course, I'm always reading!  A good summer day has a little of everything - some gardening, some reading, and some sewing.  (We won't mention that there are also usually chores that need to be done, lol!)  Here's a favorite recent finish.

We don't have a hammock here, but I do have a favorite comfy chair!  This is also where I do all my hand stitching in the evenings.

Another fun find at my LQS.  Cool fabric for hot days!

Hope you're having a great week - and staying cool!

Great veggies, I didn't even plant one tomato this year! I just never got to it. I didn't do my normal pots on the veranda either. I have a few, but not nearly as many as I have done in the past.

Are those vegies from this year? We have been picking lettuce from our little garden.

Nice first harvest! That is interesting about the petunia, I really like it though. Oh my gosh that penguin fabric - lol - so cute! Your house always looks neat as a pin in your photos. I have to clear off "stuff" when I take photos anywhere in the house. :D

There is nothing like a good book and fresh veggies. Your petunia is so pretty- how interesting that it came from the same batch as the others. Have a great weekend, Diann. Hugs.

The art of getting in and out of a hammock is tricky, so I prefer my cozy chair in my air-conditioned house, with a good book and my cat!

Monica Wood is a wonderful writer! I recommend her other books if you haven't read them yet -- When We Were the Kennedys and The One in a Million Boy. Nice harvest (pretty green colors!)

Nothing better than home grown veggies. And such cute penguin fabric. Meanwhile, my how neat and tidy your sewing chair and area are. I would have to do a tidy up before taking a photo as it gets quite messy in my little corner!

Summers during retirement are much more fun then when I was working. Lots more time to do the fun stuff. Enjoy your garden goodness, read good books and stitch a bit this week.
