I Like Thursday #360

Good morning!  It's getting to be that time of year when we can see the sunrise out our front window and it was a pretty one yesterday.  Of course, the phone camera didn't quite capture the color I was seeing.

The view out into the backyard the other day was this - 5 inches of snow!  It was really pretty when the sun and blue sky came back out.

You can't see them in this photo, but there are red apples on the tree
and they have little snow hats!

It seemed appropriate to stitch a little snowman during that snowstorm and here he is, Baby Flake, all finished up.  It's hard to tell from this photo, but he only measures 3 x 3 inches.

So cute and fun!

All of the different departments over at my mom's place had a Halloween decorating contest - housekeeping, nursing, dining, etc - and she got to vote for her favorite.  This one sitting outside one of the offices has made me smile every time I walk by - a skeleton in a tutu!

It still being Fall (although it looked and felt like February for a few days!) LeeAnna is asking - would we rather go on a hayride or visit a corn maze?  I would have to say the hay ride, but not the corn maze!  I think I would get lost in a corn maze and that would freak me out.  🙄  But I have kind of been on a hayride, and it was in a parade, no less!  When I taught preschool many years ago, we decided to have a float in the fair parade for our school, and it was set up like a hay ride.  Lots of fun!

What I really like to do, no matter the season, is read!  I read another Susan Meissner book this last week - so good.  It's historical fiction which I always enjoy and takes place during and after the San Francisco earthquake in 1906.  There's a mystery involved, too.

Hope you're having a good week!

My phone camera doesn't do our sunrises justice, either. We have had below freezing temps for two nights but sunshine during the day. No snow yet.

I zoomed in on your apple tree (I forgot that you had one) and saw those red apples! Baby Flake is adorable. That skeleton in a tutu and baby skeleton are hysterical. A maze would freak me out too!

I do not care for mazes and got lost in one with my sister, we managed to crawl our way out in the gaps here and there LOL - a hayride sounds better. Now a question after snow and cold nights will the apples still be good?

Good morning, Diann! Ooh, thanks for the book recommendation. I love reading historical fiction based on true events. They always seem to hold some true nuggets. Five inches of snow! We had something close to that for Halloween (4") which is the second most for that date. We had 5" back in 2019. Happy Thursday to you! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

agree on getting lost... freaks me out! LOVE books too. Your winter scene is probably about gone now like ours, melted in the return to sun and heat (mid 70's for Sunday)

Beautiful sunrise . Oh my 5 inches of snow- perfect for snowman building indeed and your Baby Flake is as cute as a snow covered button. You did such a beautiful job, Diann. Thank you so much. It warms my heart that you enjoyed him. Red snowcapped apples- certainly is mix of autumn and winter. Have a wonderful day, sweet friend. Hugs

Oh, no, snow. We had our first hard freeze on Tuesday night. Flurries in the air, but no accumulation. I'm not ready for the cold yet, but like Christmas, it comes whether we're ready or not.

Look at all that snow! We had snow all morning and into the afternoon, but none of it stuck. Whew!

With my allergies, I'd have to pass on both "opportunties"! Love the skeleton in the tutu. It seems like we went from summer to winter in like a couple of weeks. But then again, it is November. Happy stitching this weekend.

Those decorations are a hoot. I can't believe you had that much snow! We've had what was called a scud of snow at home...just a light covering that disappeared quickly. Beautiful job on Baby Flake and I love the photo. You have a great location for the sunrise photos. Sadly here the trees hide the sunrise and sunset. Have a great weekend now.

Baby flake is adorable. Will you be doing the new frosty stitch along with Melisa? I like the corn maze myself! I like the challenge.

Diann - it is always a bit of a shock to me when the sun changes position in the winter - it is so low on the horizon here in Montana, and the days are SHORT! I make up for it with lots of candles, herbal tea and bright lights! Joining you from I Like Thursday!
