To-Do Tuesday #85

Good morning!  I'm checking in with Chris and friends at Chrisknits to share my to-do list for the week.  It was a good week for finishing up a few things - the Stay at Home Round Robin quilt, a placemat in blue for the April Table Scraps challenge, and a small pillow using my most recent embroidery finish!

Friday, we took the SAHRR quilt up to give to my MIL, and she loved it and covered up in it right away.

Unfortunately, she had fallen earlier in the week and cut her arm, and the nurse had just been in to check her out.  Messing with the bandage hurt, and by that time I realized I wasn't going to get a happy photo.  Mike did talk to her again Sunday and she was fine!

Coming up this week, my mom will be moving here and a lot of my time will need to be focused on helping her get settled in her new apartment.  I have just about a week to get my own projects done, so I've been trying to prioritize!

  • For the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I need to finish up the asterisk blocks for this year's sampler, Full Stop.

  • I'd like to prep quite a few projects for hand work, that I can do while my mom is staying here at our house: embroidery, hand-piecing, etc.  Here's the April Kathy Schmitz design that I've just started working on.  I also have more blocks to piece for the Harmony QAL and another blue Scrappy Trips block to work on.

So, I'm keeping it simple this week, and may not even be able to manage a To-Do Tuesday post next week, with Mom here.  Just playing that by ear!

Family first I always say! I wish you good days as you transition your mom to her new apartment! And I hope your MIL heals quickly from her recent fall. Looks like you have “what you can control, under control “. That’s all we can do as life happens.

I hope your MIL will feel better and she knows she is loved and will love the quilt. I'm sure it will take a little time for your mother to get settled - I think you mentioned she no longer drives so it will take a little of your time as I'm sure she will need help on a regular schedule I know my mom did for shopping and doctor appointments. I hope she will like her new place once she gets used to it.

Love the sweet picture of your MIL, smiling or not. Sounds like your life will be filled with adjustments for awhile. I’ll be thinking of you.

Oh poor MIL but she does look cosy with that gorgeous quilt of yours Diann to warm her. My goodness, I have thought so much about a move like that of your Mom's if I were on my own. Decisions we all face if we live long enough of course. Loved seeing your placemat and embroidery. You always have lovely fabric choices and colours, I notice.

What a bright and lively quilt to brighten up her days! Have fun with the move (?), or as much as you can. Hoping it won't be too stressful on everyone. So good to have you in her life.

You and your DH are so fortunate that you both still have your Moms with you. Enjoy every minute of your time with them. I'm sure your MIL appreciates the quilt.

Family before sewing ;) Your SAHRR is beautiful, and it will comfort your MIL very well. Good luck getting your mom settled in her new place.

I'm sure your round robin gift helped to cheer your MIL up after her fall. And now your Mom will be here soon. Spending a few days with you before she gets settled in her apartment will be a nice transition. Things will be changing for all of you, but a little patience and good humor should help smooth the way.

Falls are very dangerous for senior people, glad your MIL is feeling better and is now warmed by her/your beautiful quilt. The new embroidery is beautiful and will help you in the early days of the new routine. It'll be nice to have your mom around.

Your round robin quilt is bigger than I thought! I'm sure it made her feel better. I like your embroidery - that will be cute when it's done.
