I was successful with everything on my list for the past week - let me show you!
The Crabapple Hill embroidery is finished, a border added, and layered for quilting. Here's how it looks as of Sunday evening -
I'm doing some simple handquilting through the rows and around the outside of the design. Hoping to have it all finished up by the end of the week!
The turquoise trees for March in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge are finished. Here are all of my trees for this quilt so far!
And the final block for my blue and white hand-pieced and embroidery quilt is close to being finished.
What's on the list for this week?
1. Handwork on both of the above projects - ongoing! This is my evening stitching.
2. The new Book Club QAL is starting up and there are templates this year. I need to find some template plastic and get the templates for the first block made up.
3. I want to get started on the turquoise HSTs for my Zigzag quilt. Green and orange are made, and need to be sewn together in their rows.
4. And, last but definitely not least - I'd like to get the sunflowers appliqued onto the Scrappy Sprouts quilt top. I'm thinking I'll do this by machine just to make it go faster.
Question for those of you out there with more applique experience than me - would you glue baste them on first? That worked well for keeping the centers in place before stitching!

love the Dresden's. I have not been sleeping well lately and do not know if it is time change or me just having sleep problems like usual!
I just love that border you are using on the embroidered piece. That pretty pink is perfect for it! I have zero experience with applique by machine, but if I was doing it I'm sure I would glue baste it first. It's looking really good!
All your projects are so cheerful, you MUST be having so much fun working on them!
Hi Diann! Oh, those sunflowers!!! So darn cute and such pretty, happy colored fabrics you've used. I adore the zigzag rows - are you doing that in the RSC colors this year? LOVE them! And your blue and white embroidery blocks - those are coming together so nicely as well. All of your progress is just fabulous for the week. Your embroidered piece is beautiful! And I love the scrappy sunflowers. I hope you don't mind if I make one like it someday - minus the applique.
I always dread the time jump forward, not just having to reset clocks, but my sleep pattern is always messed up for a long time afterward.

I would use a bit of glue to hold the pieces in place! I always use Elmer's washable school glue on my bindings and then iron them. I do always wash anything I use glue before I gift it. Ironing the glued fabric gives me great adherence with the fabric and it hasn't gunked up my needle either. Can't wait to see your Sunflowers all finished!
Definitely glue baste, with as large of pieces you have you will have a better chance of success with no shifting. Everything is coming together. Can't wait to see that embroidery done!!
