February Sunshine

It has been a delightful week in my sewing room in more ways than one, not the least of which has been getting out the yellow scraps!

First, though, I used my new design wall to put up last year's Scrappy Sprouts because that is this month's UFO to move along.

I love these blocks, but need to decide if I want sashing in between them before starting to sew them up.  (And, if so, what color? Any advice?)  I also need to get busy on making some more sunflowers to go at the top.  That will be the perfect sewing for yellow month!

The strings came out for some yellow string blocks.

And here they are!

I decided to use a dark red center string, no matter what the rest of the colors are, so that the design will emphasize the diamond shape.

And Angela showed us two Tiny Tuesday nine patch blocks, so two it was!

One block needed cats in the background - these cats have yellow eyes, after all!

I'm sure enjoying these!

Hope you've had a great week, too!  I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to over at Soscrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday!

Love your yellow blocks! I got my gray Grunge at Whittle's yesterday so now I can start setting my TT blocks.

Looks like you are tee'd up for success with your yellow color. I love those small blocks you are making, just wish I could fit in one more SAL! I've too much on my plate for that right now. LOL

your TT blocks are great! i really need to get going on mine...i still have some red scraps left over from last month, and last night when i sorted through my yellow bits, i was very surprised to see how much i had for crumb blocks! also: the sprouts are pretty fantastic, too! advice? i'd suggest making them different sizes- sunflowers aren't all the same height... do something to make them varied and interesting. can't wait to see what you'll doing!

sunflowers are fun for the top of the sprouts

Love that sunflower! That is going to be such a cute quilt. I love Jennifer's idea in the comments about making the sunflowers different heights. As far as sashing, the way you have them placed on your design board makes it look like there is a small white sashing, and I kinda like it!

No suggestions on the sashing, but the idea of varied heights is fun. I need to pick up Tiny Tuesday; the blocks are so cute!

I really like your sunflower with the Sprout blocks, what a great idea. I would sash with the colours of the background, just to give some space between the leaves.

Your Sprouts look so happy! Great idea to add a sunflower border at the top!

Love the Scrappy Spout blocks! Since the background of the sprouts is scrappy, I think you could do a row of scrappy neutral squares between each block and then make scrappy 16 patch blocks to use behind your sunflowers. Love your Tiny Tuesday blocks too!

I need to get my Sprouts out and see how many I have and decide what to do with them. Those Sunflowers are a great idea. I was thinking if I used a sashing it would be scrappy neutrals to blend in with the scrappy neutral background squares I used.

Your Tiny Tuesday blocks look wonderful against that gray grunge.

am I too late to say, whatever background color for sashing... so it's not another element to take away from the awesome colorful leaves! I love the flower on top! Congrats on the new machine. Mary in Boulder used Pffafs for a long time. When I taught thread classes, they were great machines for working with any type of thread
