We were away from home for a long weekend, so instead of the sewing machine, this was my view!
Before we left, I did have a chance to sew the center blocks of my Little House log cabin sampler quilt top together. I adjusted the final layout to try and mix up the brown, orange, and turquoise strips evenly throughout the top. I think this will work!
Measures about 48.5 inches square right now.
My next step is to work on the border. Melva has directions for the borders she did in her post here. I haven't decided on what I will do yet, but I did spend some time sorting through the fabric that was left from making these blocks. The center blocks were often cut from fat quarters or scraps out of my stash, so that's all put away. There are a lot of jelly roll strips left - more than I expected! I'll use some of them for binding this quilt, but then what? Maybe some fall placemats? Fun to think about!
The plan for this coming week is to make some progress on those borders.

Yes, placemats! I'm thinking of doing a placemat drive in the fall for charity. You'd have a head start if you wanted to participate.
Your logs just get prettier and prettier! I think some checkerboard placemats with your leftover bits of jelly and the neutrals would be so adorable.
If you can't look at your sewing machine, then a mountain view would most definitely be the next best thing. So glad you were able to get away and have a little fun.
Oh Diann, your Little House Quilt is looking amazing. My heart skips a beat every time I see it. And look at those gorgeous plaids- they would make a great placemat. Beautiful view in the mountains. Was it cold? I looked up the temps in the area we stayed last year in CO and the low was in the 40's the other day. Have a lovely day. Hugs.
Your top looks amazing! You've distributed the colors perfectly! As to the scraps. . . placemats would be great!
Gorgeous view! Both the mountains and the quilt!
Beautiful view. I hope you had a nice time away. Love the layout of your log cabin blocks. Of course there needs to be a fall placemat with those pretty leftovers.
What a lovely view! Your SAL finish is wonderful. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Love that you got away and the scenery so pretty - the mountains over the beaches for me.
Oh what a view! And you're wearing a jacket - what heaven! Looks like a fun getaway. I love the layout for your Little House blocks and might just copy it. I do need to do a border for mine to get it up to a better size for me.
Spectacular view (my favorite views)! Your Little House top is so pretty! Love the colors. The fabric leftovers would make great fall placemats.
The view is really lovely. Glad you enjoyed a little getaway. Your colors in the log cabin are so pretty.
What a stunning view!! hope it was an amazing trip. Your quilt looks so great - what fun to do!
Still love this make!!! I even bought some fabric today that is a blue background with orange pumpkins to create a fall table runner with.
It’s been fun watching those that participated in Melva’s sew along. Your colors are so fresh and fun.
That's a pretty view, and I'm glad you were able to get away for a bit! Those log cabin blocks are so pretty!
I, too, think placemats would be fun. This is turning out great, and I can't wait to see it finished!
