A summer house...

I originally pulled this light blue floral fabric for the Lyra QAL, but didn't end up using it, and then I thought it make a fun house block.

It makes me think of blue sky, roses, and green grass.

Speaking of green grass - how about using that for the heart on the front door?

This combination made a sweet little house!

And here's how the neighborhood is shaping up now that it's June.  I decided it needed some flowers instead of another tree.  I was thinking pink geraniums, but the block turned out more like a bush.  Hmmm.... maybe this a hydrangea flower?  You'll have to use your imagination!

I'm starting to think about how this will be put together eventually -
I know it's going to need sashing because the blocks are different sizes.
Maybe a green for grassy walkways between the houses?
Something to contemplate!

You were successful with making a pastel house block. Impressive! I like your thought of grassy walkways between the houses.

Sounds like a good plan. Years ago I made a neighborhood quilt with different size blocks - the horizontal sashing was done in a cobblestone print like streets, and the vertical sashing was a blue like the sky between the houses.

Your subdivision is coming along nicely. It's fun to come across a print that turns out to be just right for the project.

What a cute little house, that print is so pretty. You are quite talented at making those house blocks. I like your green idea!

The neighborhood is growning. The blue floral was a great choice for a house. Well done.

Your housing neighborhood is expanding nicely. And the month goes by so quickly, only one week remaining and I havent started my house yet! I am down with a case of pnemonia, and not really caring if I do anything these days. Does that count?

Aww such a sweet house. I love the Eleanor Burns fabric- it has a vintage vibe to it. I think I could live in the beautiful neighborhood you are creating, Diann. A green walkway would be lovely. Enjoy your day, sweet friend. Hugs

the green background pictured is perfect. and i very much like how the houses are offset and not lined up as soldiers!

Your houses are coming along nicely. Whatever you decide for sashing will be great. I like Carole’s idea of sky blue for vertical sashing. Grass green would work for the horizontal sashing, or cobblestone.

Sweet blue fabric! I love how all the doors have a heart on them.

It's such a pretty little house and it's going to be a lovely neighborhood when you have it all put together.

Such a delightful collection of blocks. Love the green background you used to suggest sashing.

So cute, and the flower does remind me of the hydrangeas that are all over our neighborhood right now.

Sue said...

I'm going with hydrangea for the flower. Yes. The pastel house is definitely cute & green sashing sounds fun!

Thank you, Gwyned! It's fun to be working on a project like this - not certain of the end goal, but enjoying building up to it!

Those fabrics worked very well for the next little house. I like the flower block. Hydrangeas are my favorite, so that is what I'll imagine.

Your pastel house is really pretty Diann. I also notice all the lovely sky backgrounds you are using.

Hi Diann, your pastel house is lovely. With sashing between them it will also give it some contrast. Your flower looks good and makes a nice addition to the group. Once the quilt top is done, individual houses will pop and others will recede. They can't all pop out! Thanks so much for partying with us :-)
