This week I've been focusing on the parts and blocks needed for Lyra, mmmquilts' Spring QAL. I shared the first two kite blocks that I paper-pieced in my Thursday post last week. And from there I realized that I could paper-piece each of the sections that I need for this quilt.
I drafted these myself, remembering to add the 1/4 inch seam allowance all around the outside, and they are working out perfectly! (And fortunately, we have a printer than also works as a copier, so I only had to draw each block once, and then I could make multiple copies as needed.)
Kite, square-in-a-square, and tri recs blocks
The individual parts go together to make these interesting, interlocking stars!
I've been working from left to right. To the right of the pink and blue star
is another like the big star on the left.
I made a few more pieces and added them on, and now you can see that third section developing on the right.
Sandra has released the pattern for Lyra, and you can see her post for that here. She also has designed another version of the quilt which I think is really fabulous. I'm thinking about making that version sometime in the future. For now, I'll keep working on this one!

That's looking great! The color way is fun and bright!
Paper piecing makes all those units so crisp and accurate. Looking good! Lovely colours. Gail at the cozy quilter
There is something so attractive about paper pieced blocks. I love your fabrics! That is going to be a gorgeous version of Sandra's pattern.
Your blocks look amazing, nice that you could draft and photo copy your papers.
Lovely fabrics and a great design!
Ooh - pretty colors and pattern. This will look great!
What a fun pattern that is. Love seeing that white background print in your blocks.
I love your interlocking stars - I'm not sure if I have seen this pattern
I am so intrigued by these interlocking stars. Your fabrics are perfect for them, Diann. This has to be a lot of fun to work on. Glad you were able to find a way to paper piece each unit.
These pieces are fantastic. I wish I was more proficient at paper piecing. I think I have a mental block, because I never practiced. Yours are just perfect. Love your color selections too!
Oooh so pretty. Love the blue fabric. Using the printer/ copier will make the task quicker for sure. Hugs
You picked some fun fabrics for this project. It's going to be a beauty when it's finished.
