More with greens and blues...

Continuing on with my plan to make four more quarter star blocks in each of the eight colors we've worked with this year - I finished up the red ones this week, and found pieces and parts for some orange blocks.  And then I ran out of the Grunge Sea background!  So some is on order from Fat Quarter Shop, and I'll get back on that when it arrives.

My next challenge was to see if I could pull out enough different light blues and greens to make two more 16 patch stars in those shades.  Here's where I started -

These are some of my ugliest green scraps, and hard to photograph, too!
I've been trying to name this shade of green and found a fun website -
I'm thinking my scraps might be in the artichoke or laurel or sage shades.

But they did go together to make a pretty good block for this project, and the light blue ones, too!

Here are all the blues and greens together - light, medium, and dark in no particular order.

I'm up to 18 blocks for this quilt, just two more needed!
That will be next month's task!

Very pretty Diann. Your white stars provide a nice crisp contrast to the 50 shades of blue & green LOL!

Your blocks are looking fabulous, Diann. I hope your fabric order arrives soon. Those 16 Patch stars are divine!

Love those quarter star blocks. That Sea Grunge is really pretty, I'll have to add that to my wishlist. The greens you deemed ugly decided to ignore you and look beautiful together with the white star!

You have many greens and blues in your stash too! Your star blocks are pretty- distinctively different from each other. I find I can mix all my blues in one quilt but the greens don’t play so well together.
The quarter star quilt is going to be stunning with all those scraps!

I had thought of sage but artichoke is a good description too. And all of those shades are working together.

Those fabrics did work up nicely for the star blocks. When you get the last two blocks together will you be stitching blocks and rows together right away?

Those greens do look good together in the block. I had the same issue with picking the colors. Have a good weekend.

I love that you worked your stash & they made great blocks as resting places for the eye with all the brighter colors. Yay! Happy you could order more matching background!

those stars will be a good RSC quilt when done - always colorful with so many colors used.

Those quarter blocks are terrific! Good for you to accomplish so much this week!

I rather like your artichoke, laurel and sage blocks. As I typed I sung Simon & Garfunkel’s “parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme”. Now I’ll be humming it all night! 😆

Love your star blocks, I think I've told you that before!

Both RSC projects are coming along beautifully. Those light star blocks have a nice glow. I don't normally like those shades of green, but they work well with the other green blocks.

Great work, Diann. I love the greens. I know they are light but they make such a pretty block.
