A week ago we were getting on a plane for a vacation to the Oregon Coast - today we're getting on a plane to go home. The week went by so fast - vacations always do! We had a lovely time, walked many steps every day, and now we need to go home and recuperate, lol!
It was a foggy week on the coast, cool and damp, but also beautiful.
My favorite view from our hotel room in Depoe Bay.
We saw lots of gray whales - there is a resident pod who live in the area all summer, rather than going all the way to Alaska.
Getting my sea legs under me!
Can you tell how tightly I am holding on? 😜
There were amazing views everywhere we looked!
Some even involved wine!
The closest I came to any sewing was visiting a great little quilt shop in Florence, Oregon, called "Joy of Quilting." She had a great fat quarter selection, so I had to bring home a few.
These will be fun to play with!
I'm joining in with the I Like Thursday gang for LeeAnna's question of the week which is about memories of school lunches and lunch boxes. Although my memories are fuzzy about all those years ago, I'm pretty sure we always brought our lunch to school in a metal lunch box, and bought milk to drink. Remember reading the milk cartons? My kids never liked the school lunch, so they always brought their lunch from home, too, but by then the lunch boxes were insulated canvas containers with zippers. I think we went through a lot of them! My favorite lunch container was one I made for myself when I was teaching. This one was fun to carry around!

Very cute lunch bag!

We lived really close to the school so I went home every day for lunch. In high school, I brought my lunch.
Looks like a fun getaway! Great whale picture! We went whale watching when we went to Iceland. We also got to see lots of puffins when out on the tour.
That sand dollar fabric is neat. Do you have a project in mind for your beachy fabrics.?

What a gorgeous view! I bet you didn't mind the fog at all. ;) That looks like a rough boat ride. That is neat about the whales choosing to live there instead of making the trek to Alaska - sounds pretty smart to me!
When I think of lunch boxes I am instantly transported to Mom's sandwiches on white bread and a little package of Fritos - but that's all I remember!
What gorgeous views, I love the fog over the water. School lunches, what a memory! I too had metal lunch boxes, and bought milk at school to drink. We had to put a nickle on our desks in the morning, and a student would collect them, then the milk would get delivered to the classroom before lunch. I had a new metal lunch box each year, with whatever my current interest was. One year, I was taking ballet lessons so I got a plastic one made in the same way that was pink with ballerinas on it. The metal ones had a thermos, and I would take hot soup in it sometimes.
I am glad you had the chance to go to one of your favorite places-the beach! It seems I hear that it is foggy there a lot.
What beautiful views you had on vacation! Those fabrics are wonderful and I can't wait to see what you do with them. I always brought my lunch and it was a Pb&J sandwich, little debbie, fruit cup and a drink. I disliked lunchmeat when I was little! At least it was easy for my Mom - same thing every day and I was happy.
Happy Wednesday, Diann. I was hoping you would post photos of your lovely vacation. Brrr it looks cold while out on the boat. What a treat to see the whales. It is such a beautiful area that you visited- it is on my bucket list. I look forward to seeing the gorgeous fabrics in an upcoming quilt. Safe travels home. Warm hugs.
Those fq will make some awesome landscapes, Diann. Sounds like a great trip. I lived on the west coast and so regret coming back to the midwest.
your week away looks fantastic, I would be holding on very carefully on that boat as well and so nice you got to see whales, We always brought out lunch to school in paper sack and it seems that our school gave out free cartons of milk with your lunch I remember always having a choice between chocolate and white and always choose chocolate.
Looks like a lovely trip! You're hanging on tight - what was your camera man doing?!?! Your view with the wine looks terrific. And love the fabrics. Fun stuff!
What a great vacation and some fabric followed you home! I lived a block from elementary school so I went home just about everyday for lunch...never did see who would win the Hollywood Squares game on tv! :) as I had to be back to class before the show ended.
