That really got me in the mood for sewing with some blue, specifically dark blue, the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for July. Since I made some wonky trees for the Rainbow Jungle in light blue earlier this year, I pulled them out first to see what fabrics I had already used.
This group has a dark blue and a dark gray, but it could still use some more dark blues.
This is the fun part - hunting around for just the right pieces to make these trees from! How about these?
I usually try to find about an 8 inch square, and that first batik isn't quite wide enough,
but maybe I can make it work.
Look what else I found!
Perfect to use for blocks this month!
So, I stitched up a few trees -
I like this combination!
I'm always looking for fabric pairs that have a good contrast. I like these trees, too!
Here's the blue Rainbow Jungle now.
Four more dark blue trees needed!
Meanwhile, I kept playing with the smaller dark blue batik scraps, sewing up pairs, adding a strip here and there, ending up with this slab.
I added in some sunny yellow, and now I'm auditioning some strips
to go around the outside. Just something fun to play with!
Wishing you all a fun and safe July 4th!
