I've been enjoying my morning coffee in a new mug, a gift from a quilty friend.
I liked having some time to sew up these last minute Christmas gifts - potholders - made from orphan blocks! Although I don't exchange gifts with my siblings anymore, I liked having a small gift to take to my sister and BIL to thank them for hosting us for dinner on Christmas Day.
I liked making "Just a Dozen Sugar Cookies" this week. The recipe comes from Carole at From My Carolina Home. I'd resisted the baking urge right up until the last minute, but it just didn't seem right to not have a few cut-out cookies on Christmas!
And for a laugh this week, I just have to share this...
"Bullheaded" is a sculpture in the park near our house. Every Christmas, someone dresses him up for the season!
Here he is from another angle!
Ahem! :)
Joining in with the fun over at Not Afraid of Color! Thanks, LeeAnna, for hosting our weekly celebration of all things positive!

I keep intending to make pot holders out of my orphans -- goal for 2019. There is a Dalmatian statue in front of our fire house that gets appropriately dressed for each season. Always gives me a smile.
Hahaha! Love the bull! Have a safe and happy New Year! Cheers!
Oh I love that mug!! I didn't do any Christmas baking this year. Only dipped a few handfuls of pretzels in Almond bark.
I know what you mean about it not feeling right if you do not do any baking but it is so hard to make just a little bit! I like more than one kind of cookie after all but then you end up with way too many. Cute mug and I like those hot pads.
love that cow... and his, er Christmas danglers
Ha ha! That's one festive bull! Clearly not a cow, ahem :)
What a fun, festive bull! Your sugar cookies look delicious. I think perhaps I should have made "just a dozen" cookies so they'd be gone. So many cookies over here. Hope you have a wonderful weekend & a Happy New Year!
It looks like you had a lovely Christmas holiday. I like that you still take a gift to thank the Hostess of your family party.
LOL! The Bull Is very festive, right down to his, um, parts. Looks like you had a great Holiday.
All the comments about the bull have me giggling! Looks like you've been enjoying yourself! I love that mug!
Good idea to make potholders out of the orphan blocks. I waited until the last minute to make cookies too. OK got to love bullhead, and I see someone added extras to his underside too. LOL
Making potholders just got put on my list. You're right about cookies. May have been why I kept wandering around the bakery at the market today, but got a pie instead. Maybe I'll make oatmeal raisins before the year is up.
Love your mug, and potholders. Bullheaded too of course ;))
I sure wish i had made some "extra" gifts this year cause I could have used them! Great idea on those sugar cookies! Happy New Year.

Blah - basting. But a good basting makes the quilting go so much better! Such good stuff; I like the mug and the cookies and especially that sculpture. lol
I'm so glad you enjoyed your Christmas! We did too. :)
The sugar cookie recipe looks enticing, but if I vary from my Granny's recipe, my whole family protests!
Love those potholders.
I'm looking forward to your 2019 Thursdays.
