Next week I'll show you a current picture! :)
So, this week, I had a couple of goals to accomplish in my sewing room. One was to finish up a gift for my roommate who is hosting all of us for the weekend. In college, my friend studied entomology, and even though she is now retired from her career, she is still fascinated by bugs of all kinds. When I won this fat quarter bundle of Sweet as Honey from Linda at The Road to Oklahoma back in February, I knew it would be perfect to make something for my roommate, the entomologist.
You might remember that I already used some of this fabric to make myself a table topper. When I started that one, I made double the number of HSTs I actually needed, and had a bunch leftover to make another table topper for my friend.
For hers, I made sure I used all of the fabric with honeybees and honeycombs and hives.
I pieced the back out of the larger pieces I had left, bound it in the leftover honeycomb fabric, and added some triangles in the corners in case she wants to hang it on the wall.
I sure hope my friend enjoys this little mini quilt!
I also wanted to make sure I finished up my June Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks, because when I get back it will just about be July. That meant making one more Scrap Jar Star, and I think this is the prettiest one yet! (That happens to me every month - lol!)
With the darker teals, I think the addition of the lime green works really well. My June stars:
And all the stars so far! So pretty together!
Now that I met my goals for the week, I can take my little Janome in for a visit to the spa tomorrow, and pick her up when I get back from my trip. She needs to be ready to get back to work when I get home!
Wishing you all a great rest of the week and a lovely weekend. If I have access to WiFi over the weekend, I'll link up with Angela and Cynthia and all my favorite scrappy quilters!

Have a wonderful weekend! Your blocks look so pretty all together. With each block, it grows lovelier!
Teal and turquoise make lovely blocks, indeed. A spa day for you combined with a service day for your Janome - now that is a perfect idea. Someone needs to start a business venture for quilters - "We will repair your machine while you rejuvenate yourself!!!"
Hugs,
Preeti.
Wow, Diann, I just LOVE your scrap jar stars all laid out together; there is some WONDERFUL movement to this quilt! It just sparkles already and we are only half way through. Very sweet tabletopper for your friend; so very cool that you have all kept in touch. There was a group of us in university too, and of the 6 of us 3 of us keep in touch. I always time my machine spa days with my absence from home too! Happy weekend. :-)
VERY pretty assortment of stars. Have a marvelous time on your weekend adventure.
I hope you are enjoying your adventure. I love how your scrap jar stars are coming together.
Enjoy the time with your friends Diann. I am sure your entomologist friend will love the quilt you made especilly for her. Your scrap jar star blocks collection is beautiful, Happy weekend!
So nice that you have kept in touch with your old college room mates after all of this time. Your stars look fabulous! I can't decide which one if my favorite, but together -- WOW.
Each one of your stars looks great on its own, but when you put them all together, "they look fabulous" (channeling Billy Crystal here!!!). I can't wait to start making these next year!
Hope you have a wonderful time with your friends!
Your newest star is so pretty. It even stands out nicely in the whole colorful group. Have a fun time with your friends. How lucky you are to have them!
Your Scrap Jar Stars are playing well together. Wonder what color combo Angela will choose for July? Have fun visiting with your roommates and be ready to sew when you return!!
Your Scrap Jar Stars are looking great, it's going to be a beautiful rainbow quilt by the end of the year. Enjoy your friends this weekend!
Such a great gift for your friend - I'm sure she will enjoy it! Your latest Scrap Jar Star reminds me of sea glass. Have a wonderful visit with your friends!
Sounds like a fantastic get away. My class has had a reunion every five years. My room mate moved across the country, it is so great to get together. Our next reunion is 50. I sure don't know how all those years disappeared. Hope you have a great visit.
Your 'scrap jar stars' look wonderful all together! Enjoy your road trip!
Oh, those scrap stars look wonderful together! I've heard about lifelong friendships being established during college. I'll have to take your word for it, my experience was different!
That star is an especially good version, though some of the other colors look good too.
