To-Do Tuesday #140

I'm joining in with Linda and friends at Texas Quilt Gal for the To-Do Tuesday link-up, sharing what I've been working on and my new list for this coming week.

Thanks to some unexpected extra time and a burst of energy, lol!, I finished up the quilting on PopStar on Saturday afternoon, and got the binding made and attached.  So I've been working on the final hand-stitching of the binding and should have a finish just in time for the Wednesday quilt parade!

I also finished up some blocks for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects, and you can see my progress here in my Saturday post.

Since keeping up on my monthly blocks for the RSC is always on my mind, that's what's going on this week's list.  And you can see what I'm working on here in this photo:

There are actually three different things going on here, but all in blues.
Clockwise starting in the top left:
*A sawtooth star that will go into a seasonal mugrug for my mom.
*A blue gingham tabletopper, which makes a good leader/ender project.
*And lots and lots of HSTs to go in the Bloom baskets.

So that's what I'll be working on this week!

Slow Sunday Stitching...

During the week, I finished up the Kathy Schmitz butterfly embroidery that I showed last week.  I like how this turned out - now I have to decide how to finish it up.

I traced another design to work on after the butterfly was finished, but it turns out I have other plans for my slow stitching time for today and probably tomorrow, too.

Just this afternoon (Saturday), I finished the quilting on PopStar and got the binding attached to the front.  So I'll be slow stitching this dark blue binding that matches the large main star in the design today!

That means a finish is on the horizon!

A little more with blue...

I started the week with a rebellious red project!  Just had to make it, though.

But once I got that out of my system, I've gotten back to my blue scraps and made progress on a couple Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects.  I hand-pieced two more plus blocks, so there are four now for the month.  I need to prep pieces for two more.

There are 31 of these blocks now - an odd number because I need to make three more greens and two more blues.  But I do love how this quilt is shaping up!

Then I finished up the two blue blocks for Masala Box, one bright and one dark.

These are fun blocks to put up on the wall - this is starting to look like a quilt!

Now it's time to get back to work on finishing up PopStar.  I got a little more quilting done on it to finish up the week.

It's getting close!

I Like Thursday #288

I LOVE a "Drop Everything and Make It" project!  I truly had one of those this week, and here it is on my table.  I used 3.5 inch squares for this runner, so it measures about 40 x 15, which is a good size for this table.

The red and white, including a tiny check, was so fun to play with!  I even had just the right piece for the backing.

Of course, now I want to play with the gingham idea in all the colors!  Just for fun, I cut some 2.5 inch squares in blues and white and will make a smaller tabletopper out of these.  This one has penguins, thanks to Wendy of Pieceful Thoughts who sent me this fun print awhile back.  It will match the penguin pouch I made last year!

In other colorful things going on at our house, the snapdragons are happy as can be!  They make me smile every time I walk by them.  These were planted long ago and come back every year, although some years they're happier than others.

It's been such lovely weather here, that we've been spending quite a bit of time out on our back porch.  I love rainbow spinners, and have lots.  Here's my view that includes two of them.

Hope you're having a great week!

To-Do Tuesday #139

I'm joining in with Linda and friends at Texas Quilt Gal for the To-Do Tuesday link-up, sharing what I've been working on and my new list for this coming week.

I stayed pretty focused on my "must-dos:" PopStar layers are basted together and quilting is half finished.

I've also been working on Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks for June in bright and dark blues, mostly cutting pieces for blocks like Masala Box.

But I did make room for a squirrel project, and have to admit I jumped in with both feet!  I've been wanting to try a gingham tablerunner, inspired by Vicki's beauties in this post.  I shared my fabric pull in last week's To-Do Tuesday post, and it didn't take long to have my version put together.

Quilting is coming along on this one, too, and it should be finished soon.
Binding will be the red checked fabric - I have lots of it!

So, on this week's list, more of the same:
  • Finish PopStar!  The quilt parade starts on June 15th.
  • Sew up those Masala Box blocks.
  • Finish the red gingham tablerunner, and make room for a new squirrel! 😊

Lots of slow stitching this week...

I worked on several different projects this week during my evening slow stitching time.  Some stitches were put into this butterfly embroidery.  This was a design from Kathy Schmitz's One Stitch at a Time Club in 2021.

You can see there's still a ways to go on this one -
I've only been working on it when I haven't prepped any other stitching!

I also hand-pieced two new plus blocks for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge hand-pieced project - a bright blue and a dark blue.

I've been making six of these each month for the quilt,
so time to cut some more squares to stitch this week!

I finished up the light green hexie flower that I showed in last week's Sunday post, and then made a dark blue one, too.

My plan, so far, is to applique these to a background square,
which I did with the light blue flower earlier this week.

Today, I have the green flower ready to applique to a background square, and will enjoy that for my slow Sunday stitching time!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Finishing up May, Beginning June

Since May didn't end until this past Tuesday, I figured I was well within the monthly color guidelines of sage and forest green if I finished up a few Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks at the very last minute.  Two chandelier blocks and three Bloom baskets to add to the collections:

How perfect is it, then, that my PopStar quilt fits right into the new June colors of bright and dark blue?  Thank you, Angela!  😊  Working on quilting and finishing up this project will fit right into my June plans.

That also means that there are scraps left from piecing PopStar that will be fun to use in my RSC blocks this month.

Since the sewing machine has been busy, I've just done some cutting and hand-piecing so far.  Strips were cut for PopStar's binding and squares cut for a couple plus blocks.   I did finish up a hexie flower and a dark blue plus block during my evening slow stitching time this week.

Lots more blue to work on this month!
