I Like Thursday #288

I LOVE a "Drop Everything and Make It" project!  I truly had one of those this week, and here it is on my table.  I used 3.5 inch squares for this runner, so it measures about 40 x 15, which is a good size for this table.

The red and white, including a tiny check, was so fun to play with!  I even had just the right piece for the backing.

Of course, now I want to play with the gingham idea in all the colors!  Just for fun, I cut some 2.5 inch squares in blues and white and will make a smaller tabletopper out of these.  This one has penguins, thanks to Wendy of Pieceful Thoughts who sent me this fun print awhile back.  It will match the penguin pouch I made last year!

In other colorful things going on at our house, the snapdragons are happy as can be!  They make me smile every time I walk by them.  These were planted long ago and come back every year, although some years they're happier than others.

It's been such lovely weather here, that we've been spending quite a bit of time out on our back porch.  I love rainbow spinners, and have lots.  Here's my view that includes two of them.

Hope you're having a great week!

Love your Penguins Gingham style! Those are fun. Your red and white table runner is perfect for the season. Enjoy the good weather, it never seems to last for long does it?

don't you just love a place in the shade to sit in the summer and read and stitch. Your back porch looks like just the right place - I'm always glad when flowers come back a second year or more

I love rainbow spinners too. Although I don't even have one, I love spying them in my neighborhood. Nice table runner. The penguin one will be sweet too!

Since your blog is named Little Penguin... I am not surprised that those cute penguins coming from Wendy made you swoon :-) What you call snapdragons are dog flowers to me, but they are so pretty. Warm and breezy - it is a perfect spring day.

What a lovely project! Snapdragons are my fondest memory of my mom. In Spanish they’re called little dogs as they look like barking puppies if you can carefully separate the top and the bottom part of the bloom.

Hi,
Love your table runners and topper, so cute. Your
Snapdragons are beautiful. We are still planting
flowers in our beds. It's so hard to make a choice
of which plants to use, I want them all...ha
Have a great day!

I'll bet we will be seeing more gingham from you now that we opened that can of worms!!! So much fun:) Are those blue flowers called wind flowers? I used to have a bunch and they volunteered each year. I only see one coming so far.

Summer finally decided to make a short appearance in our neck of the woods - yay! Getting our flower beds weeded and our cutting out our bushes that died because the rabbits girdled them this winter (grrrrrr). Your red runner is such fun, as is the penguin runner. Enjoy your deck time!

Always fun to see what you stitching, Diann. How great to be using that penguin fabric. Don't you love perennials...I know I sure do. They are the flower that keeps on giving that's for sure. Moody weather here, sun, cloud, rain, etc. round and round.

I somehow missed this post! If I had read it I wouldn't have had to ask you what size squares you made - lol! Well because of you I am playing with the same pattern today. I LOVE this table runner!

Your yard looks so pretty, glad you are having good weather. We are starting a long period of heat and no rain - ugh.
