It has continued to be very hot here every day, so we decided to get away for the day yesterday and went up to Estes Park. It was probably at least 10 - 15 degrees cooler up there - so pleasant!
We played golf...
It was golf with a view!
And also with geese!
We visited our favorite winery for lunch. Sometimes we take a picnic lunch with us, but this time we ordered a pizza. It was so nice to sit outside and watch the people passing by. Estes Park is a busy tourist town in the summer!
After lunch we walked around town a bit - our favorite area is along the river and there were hummingbirds hanging around. Mike had a good time photographing them!
LeeAnna's question of the week is about picnics. If you've read my blog before, you probably know I love picnics, and we go for a lot of them, especially when we are traveling. We pack the usual lunch stuff: sandwiches, chips, fruit, cheese and crackers. The food is actually not that important. What's important is the view!
Hope you're having a great week!

We like a picnic with a view too! Fun to find new picnic spots. Nice hummingbird picture! Gail at the cozy quilter
That was a good idea to drive to a cooler spot! Looks like lots of relaxing fun. Do you guys watch The Golf Channel? We've been watching a lot of golf lately, and Hubs wants to play again - it has been many years. Our son and grandson want to take him to Top Golf, so he's practicing with a net. ;)
Any way to beat the heat is a great plan and adding in lunch makes it a super plan! I'm glad you had a good day!
Love the hummingbird photo! Wow! Your picnics sound lovely, especially in the winery! I just learned of a winery not terribly far from here. I look forward to doing a day trip there with hubby! Such sweet times!
What a great photo that is of the humming bird. I think I need to do more picnics. We did one Tuesday out at camp and it was lovely looking out at the lake.
Sounds like a lovely way to spend the day. We enjoyed visiting Estes Park at various times throughout the year when our daughter worked in Denver. Mike got a great photo of the hummingbird.
Cooler temps, pizza, golf and wildlife - sounds like a perfect day to me. We always have simple picnics too when we go camping or when we go to the river with the grandchildren, but we make good memories. Have a beautiful day, Diann. Hugs.
you are so lucky to have Estes Park about an hour from you and that much cooler - must have been nice!! I like the area and the river running through part of the town we like to sit and have a coffee or a cold drink and enjoy the people watching and seeing the occasionally Elk wandering through town, once we were just leaving the town heading back to the campground when a bear crossed in front of us
That is quite the view! I think of picnics with the blanket and basket of food, but I've certainly done plenty of hikes that required a food break that I don't think of being a picnic. I guess they are!
wow que día mas maravilloso! me encanta también compartir días asi con mi esposo y la verdad es super relajante. me alegro que lo hayas disfrutados!

That looks like a great plan!!! And what a view! which winery is your favorite?
Estes is such a pretty area, glad you two could sneak up there for a little fun and food and people watching! The heat has been crazy hot here along with the humidity, and yesterday so much smoke! Today looks much better!
Sounds like a very fun get away. That it's cooler is a big bonus. We don't do too many picnics, But during Covid when we were so locked down with our offices, we'd go pick up food from a restaurant and we'd eat in the park. That was a nice break from all the need to socially distance at work.
