Midweek Update

Since I finished up those small projects towards the end of last week, I've been focused on getting the pile of 8.5 inch quarter star blocks into a quilt top.

I webbed them all together with only one boo-boo that required a bit of surgery!

Oops!  This one is facing the ⬆️ wrong direction!

Then there was lots of pressing to get all those seam allowances to go in the right direction!

Monday afternoon - adding the outer borders.  I wanted borders that matched my blue Grunge background so that the exploding star would be floating in the dark sky.  And here it is - hot off the ironing board!

Tuesday's job was to prep the backing and get the layers sprayed basted together.  Look at this great backing fabric I found - it's called "Head in the Clouds."  It's a wide backing from Missouri Star Quilt Co.  Isn't it perfect for this quilt?!

Finally, I cleaned my machine, put in a new needle and filled up a bobbin.  Now I'm ready to quilt!

Sharing at The Inquiring Quilter for Wednesday Wait Loss.
And I'm going to add this to Melva's Sew and Tell post from Monday because she featured my progress as it was on this quilt a couple weeks ago.
And at Alycia Quilts for Finished or Not Friday.

I had boo boos in my sewing yesterday also, guess the concentration wasn't there. I love your idea of letting the star float, and what a perfect backing! You'll be done before you know it.

I like how the stars turned out. I bet there was a lot of concentration going on when you were piecing those to keep them in the right direction

Wowza! Love the floating effect. And the backing is “to die for”. To quote a dear friend. That wrong direction thing happens to me at least once in every quilt I have “webbed”. 😕

It must be something in the air, maybe the full moon? I had a boo-boo in my sewing room too. Good thing it was an easy fix. Your star quilt is beautiful, Diann! I love it! Love how you have arranged the colors. The backing is perfect!

Your quilt top is beautiful, Diann. The background color is a great choice for all these star points to shine.

Gorgeous!! I really love how you arranged the colors so the center and edges seem to glow. I used that same back on a big scrappy quilt this summer and it's just perfect for this one too.
