Turkey Day is coming! This is my little homemade turkey, made from a pinecone and pipe cleaners. I'm not sure where it came from, or even who made it. One of my kids? Maybe years ago in Cub Scouts. I get it out every year around this time.
Have you been watching Ken Burns' The American Revolution on PBS? It's been on every night this week. I used to teach colonial American history in 5th grade, so this is fascinating to me. There's still lots to learn!
I finished a really good book this week. It is historical fiction, about the development of the Space Shuttle program in the 1980s, and specifically the first women to become astronauts. It's a very powerful story.
The weather has been so unusual here that I have played golf twice in the last week. It has been so fun to be outside with friends, getting in a good walk, lots of conversation, and now and then hitting the ball in the hole!
I think the weather is finally supposed to change to something more November-like, maybe even some snow, by tomorrow. We could definitely use the moisture!

That little turkey makes me smile! I'm going to watch Ken Burns documentary in a week or two (have it saved). Thanks for the tip on the book! Looks good!
My husband is watching the American Revolution documentary. My daughter loved that book. I want to read it too. I’m re-reading Small Things Like These right now as that is our Dec book club pick. Cute turkey! Gail at the cozy quilter.
Sweet little turkey! You must pack it away very carefully for it to still look so good. Hope you get your snow - it's very unusual for other areas of the country to get snow before you do!
Fun little turkey that graces your decor! We too have had some nice days. I love those. . .especially since it is dark for so long in the morning and so early in the afternoon! I'm glad you were able to get in a few rounds!
My kids also made those little turkeys. The American Revolution sounds like something we would enjoy. Atmosphere was our book for this month's club meeting. I missed it due to travel. I'll read it now, based on your feedback.
I'm taping the Ken Burns show, Love your Turkey, hope it gets cooler here soon
