Hello from Mom, sis, and me! We were visiting Mom together last week on Halloween. I don't know if you can tell, but she has a little witch's hat on. It was a fun day there with kids coming in to trick or treat. In the background there is Jerry. He is a younger (than the typical resident) handicapped man who also lives in my mom's house. He loves to do puzzles and is always sitting right there working on one.
I have found a new author that I like - this is the second book I've read by Pam Jenoff and I have another one waiting. If you enjoy historical fiction, she might be a good choice for you, too. This one is about British women who were spies in WWII.
Speaking of reading, LeeAnna's question of the week is about podcasts. Do we listen, and what do we recommend? Although I know many people who love podcasts and listen to many, I have never been into them too much. But one that I have enjoyed off and on over the years is "What Should I Read Next?" The host talks to guests about their favorite kinds of books and titles and recommends more for them. I've gotten good book ideas from listening.
We've been doing some more fall yard clean-up and took a load down to our city's recycling center. Driving in, you're met by this sign. Someone found a tree stump in the shape of a heart and painted it like this!
And finally, last week someone commented about the bread that younger son had baked and wanted the recipe. This is an old recipe that a blogging friend sent me as photographs of magazine pages, so that the best I can do to share it here in that same way. Hope this works for you! If you click on these photos, you can enlarge them.

It is fun to enjoy other books by an author you like! I'm closing in on reading Kristin Hannah's books. I did enjoy the journey!
Have you read The Frozen River? One of my favourites. We are fans of that podcast too. Gail at the cozy quilter
Your Mom looks good! I love that hat. Does Jerry talk to you? That reminds me of when we used to visit my Granny in the nursing home. I was a young woman at the time, and the other residents would reach out to touch us as we passed by. Mom always stopped to talk to each one, and it was a good life lesson for me.
I don't tend to do podcasts either. I'll try that one as I just finished a series by Hope Holloway and need a new author. I'll check out your current book - I do love historical romances!
Nice to see a family picture! Your mom is adorable in her little witch's hat. The books sounds interesting. I'll have to see if our library has it. I enjoy historical fiction. Our book clubs picks have not appealed to me lately. Someone was very creative with the tree stump. Have a great day, Diann!
I read that whole series of books and really like them I think there were about 8 books or so? I thought your mom was sitting in front of the halloween decoration :) didn't realize it was on her head - good to get in a visit with your sister and mom I bet.
Aaw such a darling photo of your Mom, sis and you, Diann. Is the little witches' hat a headband? So cute. The heart shaped stump is fabulous- someone was very creative. A few years ago we were camping in the national forest in CO and spotted a carved bear stump in the middle of nowhere . It brought smiles. Happy Thursday. Hugs.
That tree stump is so fun!
What a cute little witches hat. That stump is cool.
I’ve read The Frozen River and loved it It was my book club’s October read. Almost everyone liked it. Judy @ Busy Hands Are Happy Hands.
Fun to see your Mom again. And your sister. Halloween is a fun time to be there. To see all the kiddos in costume.
