I Like Thursday #454

Happy Birthday to my DH, whose favorite activity when we are on a trip somewhere is to have his camera up to his eyes and be looking through it for the best shot!  I have pictures of him like this in all kinds of places.  This one is taken in a little cove down below our favorite hotel in our favorite Oregon town of Depoe Bay.

We've had some great fall weather in recent days, so I am still enjoying being out on the golf course.  Such a beautiful view!

I'm not sharing pictures of my son and his girlfriend on the blog for their privacy, but I can show you their very handsome tuxedo cat brothers, Rio and Pepe.  Rio is very shy, apparently, but Pepe was friendly to me, and cuddled up while the humans visited and let me pet him.

Our route to North Platte where our son lives takes us through the small northeastern Colorado town of Julesburg, population 1304.  There isn't anything much exciting there except a nice rest area with picnic tables, so we always stop there for a bathroom break and this time brought a picnic lunch to eat.  What turned out to be exciting was the garden they had there that had attracted several monarch butterflies!  It was quite a treat to see them!

LeeAnna's question of the week is about dishes we like to take or enjoy eating at fall potluck gatherings.  We used to have quite a few of those with Mike's family, but now that his parents and two siblings have passed away, the rest have scattered and don't get together very often anymore.  I miss them and the get togethers!  His oldest sister, in particular, loved potlucks and would bring a ton of food to them.  My favorite dish is probably homemade macaroni and cheese.  Yum!  (Now I'm going to have to make some, lol!)

Happy Thursday!

I am the photographer in my family and have to request that someone take my picture to prove that I was there too! Happy birthday to your husband!

We just returned from SC for my nephew's wedding. On our way there by car, we always stop at the Rend Lake rest area. The bathrooms are always clean and the gardens surrounding it are beautiful. The lake adds a great touch! Lol! I hope the folks that take care of these areas know how much they are appreciated. Have a great Thursday!

Happy birthday to Mike! Will there be cake? :D Those tuxie boys are adorable, they remind me of my Toby. How nice to find a nice butterfly-filled picnic area, that is a great photo. That mac & cheese looks good. I have the best memories of the potlucks at our little church growing up. Daddy would make Mom go ahead of him and tell him who made what dish so he could get the best choice - lol!

Happy birthday to Mike! Those cats are handsome fellas! I often take a pasta salad or when eggs were more affordable deviled eggs to a potluck. So many people here bring sweet dishes.

I've enjoyed catching up on your posts here this morning, Diann. You look great in your cozy purple hoodie. I like how you get a photo of Mike getting a photo. What wonderful spots you two have sussed out over the years to revisit. They all look wonderful and interesting too...mmm beautiful butterflies. I enjoy seeing what you are baking/cooking too. All things I would enjoy. Yes, Carole's recipes are great. Oh, and of course, wonderful quilting all of it!

we used to have a lot of family gatherings too and so much food - now we barely meet up anymore and I don't see some of them for years. Homemade mac/cheese sounds so good! one of my sister's has that for what she would always bring with her.

Happy Birthday to your DH. It’s great you have pictures of him taking pictures. Often the photographer in the family, never is in the shot! Rio and Pepe remind me of our kitty, Tux. He wasn’t a big cuddler, but always wanted to be where we were. Or more precisely, where Steve was!

I have similar photos of My Guy. He always has a camera when we go someplace. Happy belated birthday to Your Guy. Very cute kitties. They look very content. My Guy does most of the baking and if we have a pot luck, most people ask him to bring his volcano bread or his scones. Both are really good.
