I Like Thursday #369

It's Thursday again, already!  They sneak up on me!  Thanks for visiting on I Like Thursday, hosted by LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color,  for the first Thursday of 2024.

There's not a bit of snow here, but the snowmen have come out for January.  I spent the first couple days of the week taking down the Christmas tree, putting away all the holiday decorations,  and getting out some wintry things.

That snowman dish is perfect for some bowl fillers,
but it needs more to really fill it up!

Not snowy, but something I've been working on recently is "Home," designed by Kathy Schmitz, which I've turned into a birdhouse!  It wasn't too hard to figure out, and is pretty cute, I think!  I'm in the middle of quilting it.

We've enjoyed watching some new episodes of our favorite PBS shows in recent weeks.  "Call the Midwife" had a Christmas special that was so good - as it always is.  We're caught up on Season 3 of  "All Creatures Great and Small," and Season 4 starts Sunday.   And the new season of "Finding Your Roots" started Tuesday.  The guests this time were the singers Alanis Morissette and Ciara, neither of whom I knew anything about, but their genealogy turned out to be fascinating!

Our question of the week is about favorite appetizers.  And my answer is - all of them!  I could probably live on appetizers - cheese and crackers, veggies and dip, chips and salsa.  It's all yummy! (I promise you - that is not what I really eat all the time!)  I like to make my own guacamole - just ripe avocado and a little green salsa mixed in - and spread it on a cheese quesadilla - this makes a tasty lunch.   Our favorite local Mexican restaurant has a delicious bean dip that they bring out with chips when you first sit down.  I could really make a whole meal out of it!

But here's how I really feel about the most important food group!

Lol!

Have a great day, friends!

Hey…those are our favourite tv shows too! Well, I watch Call the Midwife alone…my husband doesn’t like the medical details! I still need to watch the Christmas special. Christmas will get put away this weekend but the snowmen will stay out. We had a dusting of snow overnight. It was a green Christmas here. Have a great day.

I'm with you on the appetizers. My favorite is Texas Caviar (a variation of black-eye pea salsa) that is required eating for the New Year. It makes a huge batch, though, and I will be eating it for the rest of this month!

Love the birdhouse setting for "Home", very fun! We don't do appetizers around here, though My Guy makes a really yummy homemade salsa, but he's not done that in years. Love the cartoon (that's definitely me).

I could live on appetizers too! I usually fill up on chips and salsa (with my margarita!) at the Mexican restaurant, so the entree is just a token.
That little bird house is adorable! Love your winter scene - you've given me some ideas. Our house looks a little stark right now! That cartoon could be a scene from my life. ;)

If I eat appetizers then I am too full for a meal - so sometimes I order the appetizers for the meal!

My favorite appetizer is hummus with veggies. . .and I'll confess yes, sometimes I make it a meal! I laughed over the Pickles cartoon! Your home project setting is perfect!

Reading all the comments I too could just eat appetizers. I’d forgotten about humus and veggies. Mt Busy doesn’t much care for it, so I don’t often buy it!
Love your finish on HOME! It’s perfect. Did you learn on “Finding Your Roots” that Ciara is Russell Wilson’s wife? I’m not familiar with her music , but I like Alanis Morissette’s voice. We need to watch those PBS shows you mentioned!

I LOVE your snowman! So cute. Yes, to the PBS shows. I am pretty far behind on Call the Midwife. I have to look up what season to watch next.

Diann - I like chocolate occasionally - for me, substitute "wine". I could do without it, but I am not sure what that would do for my poor hubby!

I love Pickles, but I never see it now since I don't subscribe to the local newspaper. Your idea to set your Home stitchery into a birdhouse was genius. I jusy got home from Texas after a 3 week visit and I brought home a cold, so I've fallen behind on everything.

Best appetizer ever -- chocolate! hahaha! Seriously I love all appetizers but would consider them my meal. There's no way I can eat an appetizer and then eat a meal. Unless you call a pre-meal glass of wine an appetizer. Then I can certainly do both! Have a great weekend!

lol on the comic. I agree on appetizers, and so did Rosemary. I said we could easily go get dim sum or tapas when we all meet for dinner one day. Ahhh my dream is to get the whole I Like crew in one place to meet!!
anyway, what do you suppose is in that bean dip? I love beans.
we watched the same shows this week, but had to dvr the All creatures because we watched the Hallmark movie, while eating home made fajitas
