A little more with green...

I had decided to carry over one of my 2023 Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects into the New Year, and that is the zipper blocks.  I ended the year with 30 blocks, and want at least 12 more.  This week I made two more green blocks - one is a combination of light and dark.  The other is an odd "sort of green" batik - one of those fat quarters that you're not sure where you got it!  It has swirls of blue and brown in it also, so I found a scrap of blue solid for the alternate color.

⬆️ That really is a very dark green,
but photographs as black!

It's been awhile since I laid these all out for a photo.  Twelve more blocks will make this one column wider and one row longer.

After making those two blocks, I ended up with some extra sewing time, so I decided to make some Safelight case sets for Carole's donation drive.  You can find out more about this at her link here, From My Carolina Home.  These go to women who are served by a domestic violence shelter.  Two fat quarters and some batting scraps (and a little bit of velcro!) make a cosmetics case, a sunglasses case, and a little pocket tissue holder.  They're fun to make!

I've got two more fat quarters ready to make another set,
and then will send these off to Carole!

Those fabrics that read different colors under different lighting conditions or paired with different fabrics are fun, but challenging. Your zipper blocks turned out nicely and your compassion pieces are really fun. Love those lime slices.

Love that collection of Zipper blocks of course. The little bags are a wonderful gift for the ladies in the shelter. Very cute too!

That's a great collection of zipper blocks there, Diann. Good idea, I lost count of how many 'nearly finished' sets of RSC blocks from previous years?? Good idea to take stock of those and see what colors are waiting. Have a great week.

I like those zipper blocks and making more will give you a nice size quilt at the end of the year.

I like how your zipper blocks look. I was trying to Dec how many to make each month. I’m leaning toward four and then I’ll need a few extra. Love the lime slices for the Safelight sets. I could probably do a couple of those too. Thanks for the reminder. Enjoy your warm up weather!

I can only imagine how scary it is to leave a domestic violence situation. How nice to know someone cares enough to create a matching set of case cases. The recipient of your work will feel the support and love.

Those new zipper blocks sure look great with their neighbors! That is one great block. I can't imagine experiencing violence. Yet, so many women do. Those cases look like they would brighten someone's day. To me they bring hope.
