I have had the best time playing with the kit I bought on our vacation to Oregon a couple weeks ago. I've never made a landscape quilt before, and didn't really have a clue what I was doing, but this was very fun! There are lots of ideas for adding some details like a bird in the sky, and a fence in the foreground, as well as borders, before finishing.

I really enjoyed learning this technique, and hope to do it again sometime!
But - back to the regularly scheduled To-Do list now - my main goals for the week were to finish up all the projects I had going that need to be sent off, and I did! Here are six Happy Blocks going to Cynthia of Quilting is More Fun than Housework for her Compassion Quilts block drive.
These were to be made in "popsicle colors" which it turns out is harder to find in my stash than I expected. Fingers crossed that these will fit into a quilt somewhere!
Also, I have two cradle quilts ready to send off to Carole and a package of placemats for my niece. The next thing on my list is to take a trip to the post office and get these sent!
What's next?
- Add borders to my landscape quilt.
- Light neutrals are the October color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, so I'll be getting a pile of those out to play with this week.
- And maybe, if there's time - I have 30 split nine patch blocks made in rainbow colors - time to work on a layout and sew them together into a top.

Very cool landscape. It came out nicely. I just bought one of Karen Eckmeier's books. I need to try out those techniques!

If we can’t actually be at the beach, your landscape quilt is the next best thing! It truly is calming to look at. Sounds like you “ticked” all the boxes on your to-do list! Hope you get your split 9’s to the design board! Setting rainbow colors always gives me a bit of anxiety. Mixed up, ROYGBIV, or something else. And where does pink go? Yours are always wonderful and I’m a copy cat!

Karen really has some beautiful patterns/kits. I bought a couple YEARS ago when she came to our guild and I started on it. ACK, I couldn't get the feel for all those hills and valleys. I gave up and never got it done. Yours is gorgeous!
I'm so sorry I haven't been keeping up on your posts! I just went back to the end of August (eek) and read through them. So fun to see what you have been working on, the trips you've taken, belated Happy Birthday to your mom, and had to smile when I saw the Little Quilts book. That is still one of my favorite books because it is the first quilt book I had - I made quite a few of the quilts, including the pattern you made. And yes, I still have them somewhere! I have your little stitchery up on my wall in front of my machine, and I smile whenever I see it :-)

I've thought several times to make a landscape quilt and usually talk myself out of it. I think I could handle the gentle curves like yours. I made about a quilt-worth of blocks for Cynthia, but when I saw how many she was getting I decided to gift them to a new teen-age quilter in our Devo group.
