It's not even Halloween yet, but I need to start working on a Christmas project that will be a gift for a friend. I decided to make a small wall-hanging that I saw on Pinterest that will measure about 10.5 x 32.5 finished. It's made completely from 2.5 inch squares, so the first step is quite a bit of cutting!
I decided to use some scraps for this project, but also did a little stash enhancing to get some more Christmas colors to choose from.
And now I'm cutting squares! 54 background squares and 26 in reds and greens. A few of the reds and greens need stitch and flip corners, so there's a few more background squares needed in a 2 inch size.
And here's an idea of how this goes -
Once I have all the squares cut and can spend some time on the layout, the sewing will be pretty simple. Lots of straight seams! The Pinterest link has you iron the squares to a grid on fusible interfacing and then sew the seams, if you know that technique. But I'm just going to sew the squares into rows and rows to each other in the traditional way.

I'm with you. I think using the fusible interfacing is more trouble than it's worth.
That is a cute pattern, and I like your scraps even better than the pattern. In fact I spy a skiing penguin. ;) I'd sew those squares together exactly like you're doing.
I have heard of the technique and have read you either love it or hate it. I have not tried it myself. Let us know how you like it

Oooh such pretty fabrics that you have pulled to work with. I am looking forward to seeing this little quilt come together.
