Playing with Pink

I've had a very enjoyable week just playing with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks I'm making for 2023.  I've ended up with four pink Split 9 Patch blocks.

They're really pretty mixed with the blue blocks from January!

I had already made a few pink zipper blocks last week, so decided to catch up with some blue ones this week.

Isn't this one the perfect combination to mix January with February?
A light blue with pink hearts and a pink Grunge for the accent.

Sharing over at SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday and at

And speaking of blue - I've also made a few flying geese to add to my Stay at Home Round Robin project.    This post by Yvonne at Quilting Jet Girl, shared by Wendy at Pieceful Thoughts, was so helpful!  I like the No Waste method for making flying geese, but really liked Yvonne's chart to figure out the sizes of pieces that I needed.

I'm sticking with my plan of just making the blocks that are called for each week, and will figure out the actual borders a little later down the road.

There are lots of fun Stay at Home Round Robin projects to take a look at

All your pink blocks are looking good. I Spy penguins in the middle of one of the split 9-patch blocks -- OF COURSE! *smile* How are you eyes? Both are done now but I'm not sure if enough time has passed to know how they did.

Split Nine Patch blocks look so pretty and that central Pink Pinguin fabric is lovely, Diann. The zipper blocks are great too. I like your plan for the SAHRR quilt.

Oh my goodness I love your SAHRR! Every year I saw I'm going to start one and I just never do! How fabulous to have an embroidery in the centre!

Pretty little cross stitch, folded stars and Of course, I love the embroidered piece in the middle of those lovely blocks. Wonderful piecing, Diann. And how nice you and "the one" are together after all these years. Definitely "the one".

Love your SAHRR so far. You made combining the three blocks in the border look so natural, like they were always meant to be in that arrangement.

I love that we’re both doing Zipper blocks and Split 9P’s. They are both among my favorite blocks. Your Zippers and S9Ps are so neat - beautiful colors and fabric. Thanks for that link to Yvonne’s updated tutorial for flying geese. I have eleventy-billion of those to make for the Christmas quilt I’m starting on (in groups of 4 for star points), so it will be a life saver. Have a great week, Diann!

Pink is such a fun color to play with, especially when it involves fussy cut penguins. ;) Those split nine-patch make a pretty pattern, and I do love the pink with the blue.

Such happiness in pink! Brightness and blue and general joy in your studio. Some blocks/quilts are so intertwined with memories. I remember the first time I came across the Split 9-patch block. It was for a charity drive for the victims of wildfire in California. It made a lovely quilt for a sad cause.

Hi Diann! Oh, I adore that block for the RSC this year. That will be a fun quilt as the months go on, as is your SAHRR piece. I can see that you left room for two more potential prompts . . . maybe. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
