I have a finish to share this week - two of them in fact! This month I've been having fun sewing little bits of blue (both darks and lights) together to make some new placemats for our table.

Something I enjoy doing is playing with the quilting design on small pieces like these. I quilt with a walking foot, and have learned a lot from Jaquie Gering's Walk book. I'm calling this design a variation of her Echoed Curves.
Some of these dark blue scraps had pops of other colors
here and there - I like how they catch your eye!
The light blue scraps are calm and soothing.
I did include a few mediums here and there - it needed
a little bit of contrast.
It's always fun to have a small, but satisfying, finish or two! These are perfect for January!

I have Jacquie Gering’s Walk books too. I took several in person classes with her over the years including walking foot quilting. Love how you quilted your placemats. A small project is great for trying out new walking foot quilting patterns. Well done! Gail at the cozy quilter

Those are nice, Diann. You do well quilting with the walking foot. I've only ever done straight lines with mine. I'll have the check out that book.

Those are two great scrappy finishes! I too like the pops of color in each. . .the color makes the placemats sparkle!

Your little placemats are so wonderful! They are not only utilitarian and add color to your space, but they teach you design, value, contrast, and even machine quilting practice. :)

Fun placemats. Nice quilting too! It's nice to see others quilting with a walking foot. Makes me feel like that's an option if I'll just stick with learning and practice using one.

These turned out super! I only got as far as pulling out my little plastic baggie of light blue crumbs. PQ took up all my time and now SAHRR will take the rest of it.

Very cool quilting on your placemats. I take it they are light blue on one side and darker blue on the back. Excellent job. I've been making a few placemats for my guild but forgot to bring. Sigh.
