It's all about the Hearts this week! First the Patchwork Hearts quilt project -
While I was waiting for my batting order to arrive, I had some time to get row two of Patchwork Hearts ready for quilting and put some stitching into it.
That one will go back in the closet for awhile now that my batting arrived, however, because I'm finally able to get back to work on finishing Glowing Hearts! The backing was pieced, the batting cut, and all the layers sandwiched together.
I even had some time to get started on the quilting, which will be a simple diagonal grid. That seems to be the quilting design that I have the most success with. Might as well stick to what works, right?! I'm starting with a line of stitching through the center of each block, and then will add in more in between.
The orange peel top has moved to the handwork list as I also prep it for quilting. First I need to cut out some of the backing and the interfacing that helped make the shapes. This should make hand quilting it much easier!
So - progress on everything, and lots more to do!

Lots of progress this week! Do you have Jacqui Gering’s book “Walk”? Lots of walking foot quilting ideas , many of which are fairly easy ways to add great texture to your quilts. I have both of her books and actually took several classes with her in person before the pandemic. She has retired from lecturing and teaching now but her books are where I go for quilting ideas when I am stuck Gail at the cozy quilted
It's so nice to have different projects in the works so we don't get bored with just one! I agree if you find a design you like use it. Maybe that is why I use the hook swirl on lots of different projects.
You are making such steady progress on your projects! My eyes are so drawn to your Glowing Hearts quilt. I've saved photos of a few of the versions of that quilt, and yours is at the top!
You are so good-hearted! Does your machine have a serpentine stitch? I use that a lot with the walking foot. One of the bargain books I got yesterday was Mindful Meandering by Laura Lee Fritz. I hope it will inspire me to try some new (yet easy) quilting designs.
P.S. As always I am in awe of your hand-stitching expertise.
I do that too cutting out the back to make it easier for hand quilting - the hearts look really good. What is the size of it - it looks much larger on your table at the sewing machine then in the photo above that one.
Looking good! I didn't know you needed to cut out the backs of the peels.
this is a heart year for you - love it!!!
Great progress for sure . . .on lots of projects! Keep up the good work! Grid quilting looks good on all sorts of projects and it is not "simple" to do to make it look nice. You have talent in that department!
Lots of progress this week! I like jumping from project to project because it keeps things fresh. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

You are staying super busy this week, Diann. I am so impressed with all that you are doing. I have the Glowing Hearts on my agenda as well as the Orange Peel. Yours is just darling.
Three fantastic projects, Diann. I especially enjoy following your process (and progress) on the orange peels.
