Two of my 2022 Rainbow Scrap Challenge block projects are now quilt tops, after finishing up the last long seams this week.
The Dancing Plus blocks have been a hand-piecing project throughout the year, with 6 blocks stitched in every color, except for blue which has 7. These blocks are 6.5 x 8.5 and are set so that they are offset from each other in the rows. Hopefully you can see the color groups running in diagonal rows from top left to bottom right!
42 x 49
And one close-up of some of the blocks. It has been so fun choosing these blocks from various scraps each month. This was an anything goes quilt - birds, cats, stars, flowers, dots, solids, pumpkins, starfish - you name it!
The other blocks to make it to quilt top form this week are the Masala Box blocks, pattern by Sew Preeti Quilts. I made two of these blocks in each color of the month for a 48 x 60 quilt.
Maybe you could think of this as a double rainbow, lol!
Pink to indigo and violet and back again.
I always think I'll pick out a favorite block as I'm sewing them all together, but I really love them all! This quilt does have lots of my favorite penguin scraps in it in several different colors..
It's time for batting and backings and basting spray!
Hoping to have at least one of these finished by the end of the year.
Which one it will be is still to be decided!

You can see the block colors diagonally on the Dancing plus quilt! I love the penguin fabrics you put in the Marsala box! Both are great quilts and will be much loved! Loved reading about your Thanksgiving traditions too! Have a great weekend!
I love that you made a push to flimsy stage and beyond before the end of the year. I can see why you can't pick just one block as your favorite!
So fun to play I spy a penguin with your quilts!
Two wonderful rainbow quilt finishes, Diann!!!
Both RSC quilts turned out beautifully. I don't know what it is about RSC quilts, but they always look so special. Congrats on getting both to finished flimsy form before the end of the year.
I like the Dancing Plus pattern it reminds me of another pattern called Garlic Knots (Bonnie Hunter) I can't recall off hand how close they are the same but it reminds me of it and I had always intended to make it and didn't.
Love both your quilts but think the 2nd one would be my favorite if I was pressed to choose. Great job on both! :)
Two lovely quilts. Both very fresh looking. Love them.
LOVE both of these RSC quilt tops, Diann!!
Awww. We were both thinking on a positive note this week. I love your Dancing Plus quilt. There are so many variations of plus quilts out there. What a fun setting. Nice finishes.
Great progress on both of your RSC quilts! I can easily see the color diagonals in Dancing Plus! I'm impressed that these blocks were hand stitched! Your color arrangement for Mansala Box is great! Great work!
Two beautiful rainbows of delicious scraps in both quilts Diann! Isn't it great to get those long seams sewn?
Wonderful rainbow quilt tops... great job!
I like both of these RSC finishes. The low volume print as background for the Marsala Boxes livens it up.

wowza,wowza,wowza! both quilts are awesome!
congrats on your finishes, both quilts are beautiful!
What great finishes! Both so colorful and happy. Have fun with the quilting!
These are both so pretty. What fun scrappy quilts!
They both turned out great!
Why Hoo! You got them both to flimsies! How to decide which one gets completed first! You may have to have hubby toss a coin!
That are both wonderful Diann!,
Congrats on 2 beautiful quilt tops. I love both of them and especially the background fabrics. What great projects and use of fabrics. It's exciting to me to see a long term project get to this point. I was chomping at the bit to get my #AutumnJubilee2022 quilted and am ready to bind. Mary / https://stitchinggrandma.wordpress.com
Both your rainbow tops look great!
Love seeing your little penguins in your projects! Of course you know I love the Dancing Plus quilt - always have - and your Masala Boxes do look like a double rainbow. Beautiful job on both and congratulations on your finishes!
Wonderful quilt top finishes, the rainbows of colors will make someone happy.
Two beautiful finishes Diann. I love them both and the way you incorporated the rainbow theme into each which can get a little tricky. I always enjoy your very neat stitching.
2 beautiful quilts, Diann! I can’t choose a favorite. I love them both.
Two gorgeous finishes! Both are lovely, well done!
I previously admired the dancing blocks and I still do! But oh, the rainbow Masala design is wonderful!!
Congrats on your RSC finishes! I really love your Dancing Crosses.
I like both of these quilts. I especially like the low volume background fabric on Dancing Plus blocks. I generally use a white on white or even a solid white. I think I'm going to find a low volume fabric like you used. It really adds to the design. Did you use one background throughout or did you use one fabric throughout it? I also like the subdued colors. And oh those Marsala Box blocks. Wonderful. And di you throw in some black too? You have done a great job this year. Are there more RSC tops to come?
Nice job! You are my inspiration! Have you decided which one you'll start quilting first yet??? Congratulations on both great finishes!
These are beautiful quilts. I love the layouts you chose for both of them.
Yes, two delightful quilts using those RSC blocks Diann.
Oh gosh!!! Those two are SO amazing!!! What fun yearly projects - and so fun to see them all come together!!!
Both quilts finished up so well! Those dancing pluses make me want to do another 100 Day project. Masala is so bright and cheery!
