I Like Thursday #306

We've been having freeze warnings so I cut some of my last marigolds and brought them in.  It's fun to have a few cut flowers that I grew myself around the house!

I'm enjoying this view of our backyard neighbor's tree that has turned the most beautiful shade of orange!  I can see it from my comfy chair when I'm reading or watching TV.  At certain times of the day, it just glows!

Notice the apple tree to the left - its leaves never really turn a different color in the fall - they are still green and will stay that way for a long time until closer to winter when they actually start falling off.

I roasted the tiny pumpkin that I grew in the garden this year.

There was just enough pumpkin in it to bake a batch of Carole's Pumpkin Orange Bread.  So tasty!  We've been enjoying a slice every morning with coffee.

LeeAnna asked us about Halloween candy this week, and there are so many fun memories attached to Halloween and trick-or-treating over the years.  I loved dressing up when I was a kid.  My mom made all our costumes, and I specifically remember a witch and a pilgrim.   My two sisters, brother, and I would come home, spread out all the candy, and trade with each other for our favorites.  Of course we did the same with our own boys as they grew up.

My favorite candy to eat is always something chocolate - back then probably the mini packs of M&Ms or the miniature candy bars.  Nowadays it would have to be these:

But I have to be strategic in buying candy for the trick-or-treaters nowadays.  If it's chocolate I will eat it, so instead we get these.

Hope you're having a great week!  Ours has been busy with needing to get my mom a new TV, and get it set up and installed for her, and then our car broke down.  Ugh!  But this morning we are headed out on a short road trip to see one of our kids, so that will make everything better!

Thanks for visiting on "I Like Thursday," hosted by LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color

We have had glorious fall colour here too. It has rained the last few days so most of the leaves are down now. It’s supposed to be warmer and sunny next week. Your pumpkin bread looks yummy!

We had 26 overnight. Glad I brought my house plants in a couple of days ago! My mom made many of my costumes. The one I remember had shear balloon-like pants and a halter top, some kind of exotic dancer getup. I had to wear pink pajamas under it because it was so cold that day!

I hope the car was an easy fix with a trip in mind. I hate getting new tvs and I hope your mom will be able to handle getting used to a new one - they can be so hard to learn I think with new menu's and all - so different than what she had years ago I'm sure. It is always chocolate for me - I know I most likely won't have any kids drop by but I will have one bag of candy on hand just in case. Very pretty trees.

That pumpkin bread looks tasty, I'm afraid it would be more than one slice I would eat for breakfast. ;) Your marigolds look nice with that pretty table mini. I picked several zinnias and all my tomatoes the other night because it was supposed to freeze. It only made it to 34, but we did have frost on the ground. Enjoy your road trip!

Great likes. I love glowing trees - that orange is terrific! Little roasted pumpkins can turn out so great and pumpkin bread is always yummy. I'm a big fan of those peanut butter cups, too. :-)

frost warnings but no frost, and highs in the 80's so... not too worried. Although Colorado can drop 60 degrees in one day so we never know

Have a great visit with your son! Hope you resolved the car issue! I hate that! Wish we had a Trader Joe’s. I’d like those PB cups too. I need to look up that Pumpkin bread recipe! I’m craving it now!

Your Fall table runner is gorgeous, Diann. Thank you so much for stitching my little design. I was over the moon when I saw your photo. The leaves are gorgeous in your area. The pumpkin bread looks so yummy. Don't you just love pumpkin season? Have a great weekend.
