Zigging and Zagging

I was so excited about finishing up the very last row of HSTs for my zigzag quilt project this week that I just kept sewing on them until the quilt top was all done!

Whoop whoop!
The quilt top measures 48 x 72, kind of tall and narrow, but I have in mind to gift this to a friend who is also tall and narrow, so hopefully it will be just right!  😉

I don't have a backing for this quilt yet, so while I'm looking for that, I'll move on to some other projects.

Along the way, I finished up the yellow double 4 patch blocks I needed for that project as well.

So here they all are!  Now I can take these blocks off the design wall and work on sewing this quilt top together, too.

It's been a pretty productive week here!  Hope you've gotten a lot done, too.   For more scrappy rainbow goodness, check out the posts at SoScrappy on ScrapHappy Saturday, where I'll be linking up!

love ziggy zag quilt - just something about that movement in this quilt - I have loved following it along and seeing it grow - everyone has been posting their yellow blocks and I haven't even started mine and really need to get that done.

Wow how fun will that be to have two new quilt finishes soon! Do you know how you will quilt them?

Zig-Zag turned out even prettier than I was thinking it would. I love it! No wonder you couldn't help but sew it all together right away. Great job! Your double 4-patch blocks are really pretty too!

I like your zig-zags! I am very partial to that double 4-patch quilt. The background you chose just makes it pop!

Two wonderful rainbow quilts. I too was so excited about finishing a top that I sewed it all wrong. Oh, I'm hilarious sometimes. Ha! Great job on yours! Enjoy! ;^)

I just read your two last posts, Diann. Thanks for the shout out and yes to leaving some of the leaf litter. I read there is quite the ecosystem occurring there; nature's way of protecting the earth. Meanwhile, imagine, Wendy had snow and you folks have fires. Crazy. Two lovely quilts here to be proud of. I'm sure your friend will love those cheerful zig zags. How neat to see a Steller Jay; I've not had that pleasure. Tell Mike how great his photo is...love the angle he shot it at.

Hi,
Both your quilts are beautiful!
Love all the pretty "scrappy" colors.
Have a great day!

Oh my “heart”. Zig zag ribbons is so pretty! Definitely going to try that one! You’ll have two quilts done before you know it, Finger crossed for some fire relief for all you Coloradans!

Wow! Two lovelies so close to tops! Hooray! I especially like those D4Ps with that blue background.

Wow, you're really wracking up the finishes. Next up, you'll need to decide on new projects for RSC 2021. Or maybe you already have some ideas. I've got such a backlog of blocks I want to do, that I'll really need to narrow down my choices.

A new rainbow quilt top and an other on the way? AWESOME!!!

Congrats on the rainbow zigzag top! Great colors, amazing piecing. And all the light blue 4 patches done! Isn't it fun finishing up after all the months of piecing? I'm not sure if it makes even a dent in the scraps, but it's still worth it!

Zig Zag for the win! I love that you have a long and skinny friend in mind for this quilt! Also...that double four patch quilt is so good!!! I'm loving the blue background!

Love both your tops and the hand embroidery (from yesterday's post) looks adorable, too. I have/had some zigzag print fabric (with green zigzag) that might have worked for the backing of your zigzag top, but IF I have any left, I'm sure it's not enough for what you need - darn! I could have sent it to you - but I'm pretty sure I used most of it on a backing for one of my own quilts... sorry. But, then again, maybe you wouldn't want to use a zigzag print for your backing.

Lovely zig zag finish, Diann and I especially LOVE the background fabric.

The zig zag setting is wonderful! The color does the heavy lifting -- and does it so well! I like the double four-patches, too -- pops of color in a cascade.

Wow! You have been productive. I really like the zigzag quilt - I think the design makes a great RSC quilt.

Thanks for sharing your scrappy goodness with Oh Scrap!

Great projects, I wish I had done as well last week!

I was trying to decide which of your rainbow quilts I liked better.... I couldn't decide. Both are wonderful. I hope you get the 9 patches done this week. Part of the reason I like it so well is the light blue background fabric. It gives it a whole different look from either white or navy blue or black background. Great job.

Everything is looking wonderful!!! Love the 4 patches.

Oh I love love love your zig-zag top! And the 4-patches are pretty on the blue background

Love both your RSC projects. Congrats on all the progress this year. I didn't play along with RSC this year since I'm trying to finish stuff and I certainly missed it. Looking forward to watching you finish off these two colorful quilts.

That is a beautiful finish, Diann. You don't have backing??? Now that is a flimsy excuse :-D to not finish it. But when other projects beckon to us who cares about an excuse. All your weeks are pretty productive (insert eye-roll emoji here) :-)
