Mike and I take a daily walk around our neighborhood and there have been some fun sights recently! We have some very creative sidewalk chalk artists -
"You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage
to lose sight of the shore." I think this was advice for a
graduating senior.

I loved this cute painted rock that was sitting on the button for the crosswalk, too.
Last week, a bunch of us had a birthday parade for my dear friend and teaching partner who is battling breast cancer. It was only a few minutes, but it sure was fun!
We all stopped our cars for a bit and got out and sang to her, carefully distancing ourselves and wearing our masks. Her husband kindly sent us all a picture!
Closer to home, this beautiful Western Tanager has been visiting our feeder the last few days. He is one of our favorite birds!
I got some happy mail the other day! My fabric stash was needing a boost. I haven't bought anything in several months, so I decided to order from Bernie's shop, Needle and Foot Fine Fabrics. Bernie has the most amazing service! I ordered and she shipped on the same day!
The bottom piece is a white on white for backgrounds. I needed some green, too. A few of these came in a kit for a baby quilt that Bernie designed. I probably won't make that baby quilt right now, but I love the pretty fabric!
This one is especially fun!

Looks like you are in a wonderful neighborhood, and what a nice thing for your teaching partner to be celebrated that way. You got some pretty fabrics from Bernie. You'll have to allow yourself some time to just pet the fabric. ;)
it was never a dress for sure - my daughter sent a mothers day card last week that showed a red cape and boots in the mothers closet and two kids are standing outside the closet looking in with amazement - "so this is how she does it" yes a lot of women are superwomen :)
Good luck to your friend I'm sure the parade lifted her spirits. Love the western tangier and love seeing them when we visit the mountains. Neat chalk art

What beautiful sidewalk art. I've noticed some in my neighborhood too but mostly not as "adult", more kiddie-like. Some are very pretty too. Love your new stash enhancement. Every so often we just need that little boost!
So many fun things in this post - the sidewalk art is fun, great idea cheering on your friend, that bird has amazing color, and of course, I love all the fabric! Yay for supporting Bernie too!

Great chalk art. There were 2 birthday parades near my house today. I heard the first tooting car horns about 1 PM and couldn't figure out what was going on (it was several streets away). Then about 4 PM as I came in from doing yard work, a car was parked in front of my house and the driver was attaching a birthday banner to her car. She then drove up the private road across from us and a few minutes later another serenade of car horns occurred. I didn't know the celebrants, but it was fun to see (hear) the celebration. Our region of NY begins to loosen restrictions tomorrow, but I sure won't be going much of anywhere for quite a while.

Great likes! We have some chalk artist in our neighborhood too! I never know what they are going to write or portray! I love your fabric! It is truly happy fabric, isn't it? I just love your red project! I may have to look into those curved blocks and try my hand at piecing them on the machine. I haven't done curved piecing in forever.
I love the superhero cape bathroom sign! So fun! And all that chalk art is great. Our neighborhood has had a variety of chalk colored mailboxes and a little chalk art but nothing as fancy as what you shared. That parachute white print is super cute, it would be so fun in a kids or baby quilt.
Love the tanager; I've never seen one but I know they are here. Thanks for showing him/her.
Your Book Club blocks are awesome and so cheery with those colours. Yes, the curves work well by hand, don't they.

I love this post Diann. Thank you for sharing all the pictures of hope and cheer from your neighborhood. I have noticed more birds in my backyard these days. Your fabric haul is so sweet but that last picture is the absolute BEST!!! We are all superwomen. I needed to see that :-)
