Happy New Year and Cheers!
This photo brings back good memories of our visit to the Korbel Winery
in 2024 where we did a very fun champagne tasting.
I ended 2025 having read 56 books. The last two I finished were some of my favorites of the whole year.
This one is my book club's selection for January.
It's also historical fiction, but takes place in 1963 -
four women become friends through a book club that they start.
My mom joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority in 1950 when she was a freshman at the University of Iowa. Recently they sent her a 75 year pin! We had my niece (also Mom's granddaughter), Maya, who is also a Theta, pin it on her and sent the national council this photo.
Aren't they a sweet pair?
Today is my day to take down the Christmas tree and put away all the decorations. I'll miss the beautiful lights of the season, but am ready to have everything all clean and neat for the new year. Have a happy New Year's Day!

Love the photo of your sweet Mom and your niece, what an honor for her. You read a lot of books, that's more than one/week! I have Christmas with the Queen on my Kindle app and hope to get to it soon. Hope you have a happy and healthy 2026!
Happy New Year, Diann! You had a successful reading reading year with 56 books. I have Christmas with the Queen on Audible. Not because anyone recommended it, but I'm glad to see it was one of your favorites. I love the photo of your mom getting her 75 year pin. That is amazing!
So glad you enjoyed one of my book picks!
That is such a great photo of your mom, how wonderful of the sorority to honor her at 75 years!
Happy New Year! I always took down the Christmas tree on New Years too, I put my little Charlie Brown one away yesterday. This weekend we will take down the outside candy canes. That is a memory keeper photo of your mom and your niece.
It is always nice to have the house back from the Christmas decorations inj anuary. How neat for that pin for your mom! Great job reading in 2025. I need to do more actual books this year... instead of audible ones!
I took our tree down early this year. I needed to have my house in order. I do not recommend doing any renovation a month or two before Christmas! I love the idea of champagne tasting! Fun!
What a delightful photo of your Mom and her granddaughter. How nice for the sorority to recognize her longevity. I just checked and found I read 71 books in 2025, surpassing my goal of 70. I usually have 2 books going at once. A print one for bedtime reading and an audio-book for driving, sewing, gardening, etc. I wait to take down Christmas until Jan. 6, the Feast of the Epiphany. Then the snowman collection comes out.

nice for your mom to get a 75 year pin! I'm not sure if I will take things down today or not. Sometimes I take two or three days and it really isn't that much lol. I will look for the books you mention
Whenever I mention Mom's college, I get the shocked response of how unusual it was for that generation to send women to college. So happy to hear your mother "was allowed" to attend also! Lol! What was her major? Mom's was Latin with a minor in English. Maya is keeping up a wonderful tradition for your family.
Sweet photo of your mom. Mine was probably a generation before her (1908) and she was a Phi Mu at Ohio State.
Congrats on all the books you read for 2025. Our tree will come down this weekend. It's always so drab after everyone gets their lights down. A sure sign the holiday is over.
Ooh - that's a lot of books. I only made 43 this year. I usually pull down the decorations on Epiphany - which is coming up fast!
I put your first book on hold with my library. I enjoyed the second a lot. What a great photo and memory for you and your mom! Our decorations are put away for another year. That was good number of books to read!
