I like my quilt group! We have all been friends for more than 25 years - that adds up to lots of quilty inspiration. We had a fun Christmas party last week, and here is one of my friends looking at her gift, the pillow I made for the gift exchange.
Besides the cute sewing machine ornament I got, I also brought home a neat knitted bag with a book about Christmas songs. I think that will be some fun reading, and the knitted bag could carry a stitching project in it.
Speaking of stitching project, my hexie tabletopper is finished! Except, oops...
I sewed one in going the wrong way!
Of course, I had to fix it, which didn't take too long. And now it looks just right!
LeeAnna's question of the week is about Christmas colors that we like - just red and green, or are there others. You can probably tell from projects I've shared recently that I like to sew with the traditional colors of red and green, but I have made things that included other colors. Here's a table runner from a few years ago - I think 2019. It was also a gift for my quilt group's Christmas party! I love the addition of the turquoise.

Glad you got that tree straightened out before it hit the floor. Our tree fell over one year on Christmas Day just as we were leaving for Christmas dinner. What a mess. Your quiltmas party looks like it was fun. Lucky recipient of the pillow you made. Enjoy your family time this weekend. Gail at the Cozy Quilter
Sounds like a fun party! I likely wouldn't have caught that block turned differently until I was putting the piece away for the season! Glad you found it and fixed it so soon!
That is a sweet hexie project. I am interested in that book, sounds like a fun read for the holiday season.
The knitted bag and book is such a great gift, Diann. The hexie topper finished nicely. And I like the runner in aquas in red. It has a vintage feel to it. I hope you have a very enjoyable weekend with your family.
That is a precious photo of your friend admiring the skating pillow:) Fantastic your older son will be joining the family for Christmas fun. Have a great week Diann.
Looks like you have a fun quilters group. The table topper turned our really cute. Enjoy your holiday weekend with the family. It's so nice when you can get the kids home for a few days.
What a nice photo to remember your gift! You got some nice gifts too. I like the addition of turquoise to Christmas colors, and I have also included pink, navy, or black touches from time to time. Yay on having your family all together!
I love turquoise and think it looks terrific on the table runner. I have never seen a knitted bag! That is such a fun idea!
glad you will be getting a visit from your oldest son that is nice and makes the holidays brighter. Your gifts are nice - because I knit right now too I find that knitted bag interesting.
What great gifts all around. Good catch on the sideways tree - I'm like Terry and would have noticed it while putting it away for the season, if then! Before kids, I switched years decorating with Victorian (pink, green and reds) or kids traditional red and green. Enjoy time with your family.
It sounds like you belong to a wonderful quilting group, Diann. The knitted bag is darling and will be perfect to carry anything. Aaw your hexies quilt is absolutely adorable. I cannot thank you enough for stitching my little doodles. Enjoy spending time with your son and the rest of the family. Warm hugs and Merry Christmas.
25 years of stitches and friendship -- what fun. Yes, turquoise is such a vibrant addition to Christmas colors. The book about carols sounds interesting.
I love the pillow you made and the gifts you received were awesome! That hexie quilt is so wonderful! I would have changed the tree hexie too :D I have to post about a vintage book I have that uses embroidery in the hexies. Have to find it first! :) Have a wonderful holiday Diann!
Super cute table runner - and I love the colors!
Your book sounds interesting to me -- I've been singing Christmas songs since October as my choral group rehearsed! I'm interested in your little hexie project. I saw a book that had little embroidered projects and considered buying it but found something different for my grandkids this year. Did these come from a book? Hope you have a great time with your son.
That sounds like a fun Christmas party with your quilt group. Lovely pillow to your friend. The knitted bag and book is such a fun gift. Love your stitchery topper, it's beautiful! I've discovered turquoise as a beautiful Christmas color too. Enjoy the family weekend with your son.
Diann - I read your Winter Solstice post as well, and I so admire your stitching projects, from the pillow gift to the hexie table topper to this Winter mini-quilt. Gorgeous, every one! Wishing you many hours of slow stitching in 2026. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! (Joining you from I Like Thursday)
