I finished this stitching this Winter project just before the first day of Spring last March, so it seemed important to fully finish it just before the first day of Winter!
I had been struggling with just exactly how to finish it, and finally decided to treat it like a little mini quilt with backing and batting, flipped it right sides out and machine stitched all the way around the edge to hold everything together. I don't know if you can tell, but I put a few ties in the corners between the "blocks," too. I happened to have a bit of that striped ribbon for a bow, and it goes well with the hat, mitten, and bowl. Kind of a fun finish for a cold, gray day!
If you missed it earlier this week, I did finish the embroidered hexie tabletopper, too.
So, then - what to stitch on during this Christmas week while waiting for Santa to come? My favorite source of stitching designs and inspiration - Melisa at PinkernPunkin - just happened to share a Santa mini sampler, so I had to start it. You can see a b c d and the top of Santa's hat there. Plenty more to work on for Slow Sunday Stitching!

I had forgotten that you stitched 'Winter'. It really is so adorable and looks great in your display. If I didn't say it before I really like the hexies too;)
Petra
Just the perfect way to finish off the winter cross stitch. The bow looks great! Your next Christmas bowl filler is a good project for the days leading up to Dec 25th Gail at the cozy quilter
Just lovely little Winter quilt you've cross stitched and added to your decor...nice work. Happy Winter Solstice--may your days be filled with light...hugs, Julierose
I love that you treated the stamps like a little quilt, even the little ties! It's so cute. Have fun with the Santa sampler!
Your Winter project is adorable! Love it!
The Winter stitchery is perfect for this time of year, great that you finished before the solstice.
Congrats on getting this cute little "quilt" across the finish line. It is so pretty that I had to go check Melisa's blog. Have a very merry and bright Holiday. ;^)
Your Winter finish is super cute! I love the bow accent. Thanks for sharing with me that you put those hexagon cross stitch pieces together from the back. Your fixed tree block looks great in the orientation you originally planned!
I love the winter stitching - that is so pretty - it caught my eye as soon as I opened your blog to read.
If it's the Winter Solstice there that means it's the Summer Equinox down here and each day will be a little bit shorter. But, I won't think about that......but people up there, keep reminding me. =) Your Winter cross stitch is gorgeous, Diann. The little bow is the perfect touch. Enjoy stitching your new pretty. Have a wonderful Christmas.
Wonderful Finish, Diann. Did you use regular cotton on the back? The striped bow is perfect. I hope to start the Santa sampler too. Happy Holidays to you!
Such a cute and pretty stitchery! I love the way you finished it, can't be more perfect, especially with the striped bow. Beautiful Christmas / Winter decor.
Winter looks fantastic! I love your setup! It's awesome!
Winter is a cute finish, Diann. I love the way you clipped it to the December heart.
I love how you finished your little Winter stitchery project, and what a great collection of winter images there. Glad you found something new to stitch this week—I used to do a lot of cross-stitch but no more.
