Midweek Update

In my Saturday post, I was so excited about the progress I had made in sewing the longer sashings and rows together for Blueberry Taffy.  I was so sure I could finish the last row and the borders on Sunday.   And then I got in a hurry and measured wrong, or sewed it wrong, or something - and saw this...

A ripple-y border.  😭

So I was a good girl and took that off before doing any pressing or "trying to make it work."  Re-measure, re-cut, and re-sew, and a short time later, it looked much better and as of Tuesday late afternoon, Blueberry Taffy is a finished quilt top!  And all is laying flat!

I'm very happy with how the block and sashing intersections went together - they look nice and square.

I'm not as happy with how much the light blue Riley Blake solid is unraveling!  It seems that just as I cut it and move it around to sew a sashing to a row, it has already started. Very frustrating!  This top needs to be quilted and bound soon so that it doesn't completely unravel before it can be finished.

Right now, though, it has been gently folded and hung up on a hanger in the closet because I have some small pieces to finish.  My Table Scraps project...

And the September heart...

More about both of these in my weekend posts!

Beautiful finishes. I love how Blueberry Taffy has come together. Yay for you to stick with the fixes. Ooooh the September heart is so pretty! I am not being very creative this week. Lots of packing and cleaning.

Blueberry Taffy is yummy, Diann! I am glad that the border was a quick fix. So sorry to hear about the fabric unraveling. I have some fabrics like that - uggh. Aah your September heart is adorable- love your border fabric. I look forward to seeing it all quilted and on display. Thank you again for stitching it. You brought a smile to my day. Hugs.

Good to fix that rippled border! Blueberry taffy is such a sweet finish, pun intended! Your little heart embroideries always bring a smile. Gail at the cozy quilter

Bravo for fixing the border instead of trying to make it work!!

Blueberry Taffy is so, so pretty. Kudos to you for fixing the ruffling - I am not always so good about it! But yes it is lying flat and looking so good. I've had a fabric (a solid actually) this past week that is driving me crazy with the unraveling. Looking forward to your weekend post!

Blueberry taffy is lovely but I was seeing fish at first!? I really jumped to conclusions and then saw my error! I was wondering why the fish had two tails? Now when I look at it, I'm loving the secondary patterns you get putting them on angles. This is lovely and I appreciate you talking about correcting the wonky section. We all go through those moments and it's nice to be reminded that it's normal. We're human!

Thank goodness the ripple/wrinkle was on an outside strip rather than in the interior! Lovely colors.

BB Taffy is so pretty--a shame about that unraveling--I've noticed more and more fabrics--esp'ly solids are doing that!! At any rate--it is a beautiful quilt...nice work hugs, Julierose

Congratulations on three lovely finishes! So sad about the unraveling, but you are taking good care of Blueberry Taffy so it should work out alright. It's so pretty! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
