One of our favorite things that we did in Steamboat Springs was visit their botanic garden. It had been recommended by several people, so we thought it sounded like a place to check out.
It turned out to be lovely! Lots of nice trails to walk, lots of blooming things, and lots of birds, too. We both got some nice photos of what we saw. Here are a few favorites.
A hummingbird moth enjoying the flowers.
My favorite flower!
A great spangled fritillary enjoying the echinacea.
Loved this sculpture, too!
And LeeAnna's question of the week is about hula hoops - did we have one when growing up? Yes, I did, and I remember getting cheap ones at Woolworth's. Maybe they had little beads inside them that made noise when you were twirling the hula hoop? I remember them being a lot of fun! But the hula hoop came back into my life when I belonged to Curves, a fitness center for women. They had hula hoops that looked like this:
It took awhile to get the hang of it again (I was in my 50s!), but I did get it, and that turned out to be a fun way to work on my core muscles. Who knew?!

I had a hula hoop too! I loved it when our gym teacher pulled out the hula hoops for our class.
Beautiful pictures of the flowers and insects you saw while you were away. Gail at the cozy quilter
I had a hula hoop too.
I've never seen a hummingbird with markings like that, so beautiful!
What a pretty place to visit, and you got some really nice photos. I saw a hummingbird moth once, and it was amazing. You really got a good capture on that one.
I had a hula hoop and was pretty proficient at it (I was a kid, of course I was!) but have only tried it a couple times since then.
Thanks for sharing your pretty pix of the Botanic park. Yes I had a hula hoop and never could make it work.
I remember hula hoops and had one too. I don't remember a Botanical park there but I know we visited the area at least once - it was a long time ago though 15-20 years ago I bet it might not have been here then
I love visiting a botanical garden. That one looks beautiful!
A visit to the botanical garden does sound relaxing and delightful. I am glad you had a great time, Diann. Aaw what sweet memories of the hula hoop. I had forgotten about the beaded hula hoops- they were the best! I have the same Curves hula hoop and still use it. LOL. Have a wonderful day. Hugs
Hummingbird moths are pretty cool! Love your flowers.
I had to google hummingbird moth. . .what an unusual sight! My cousin had a hula hoop and we played with them in PE; but, I didn't have on of my own!
I had seen hula hoops but never had one. We had a Curves near us but that closed several years ago. Rents too high. I miss it. It was fun. I enjoyed the community and the exercise was almost like play. Beautiful pictures!
You got some pretty photos at the botanical garden. I remember those beads inside the hula hoop. I remember trying to walk and keep the hula hoop up. As kids do, we made quite the competition out of it.
Beautiful photos. ❤️ I also had a hula hoop as a child. Warm greetings from a retired lady living in Montreal, Canada 🇨🇦
The Botanical Garden photos are really nice. Looks like a great get away. I remember Hula hoops, we had one. I probably couldn't do it now, old bones don't move that way now!
