Purple Potpourri

Since finishing Glowing Hearts earlier this week, I have been jumping around from one thing to another in the sewing room.  Two purple Gameboard blocks were sewn up as leaders and enders in between other seams.

I've slowly been making these blocks just a few at a time, starting with the four patches and then sewing them into 16 patches, and then adding the outer sections as I have time for them each month.  It's one of those "no stress" projects!

And I played with these pretty scraps that are turning into my Table Scraps project for July.  More about that next week!

Then - not purple, but we'll call it scrappy - there's the squirrel project - a braided tablerunner made from leftover strips of the jelly roll from Glowing Hearts.  It was fun and quick - now trimmed to a rectangle shape.  Did I use up all the leftovers - lol, no!  But they might make a placemat or two.  I'll have to look at that.

I even spent some time quilting Patchwork Hearts, my 2024 RSC project.  It turned out that the purple four patch chain block was ready for some quilting, so that seemed appropriate for July!

It's been fun playing with this and that all week!

The scraps are flying in your sewing room this week! How big are the game board blocks? Your table runner is pretty…a couple of placemats will hopefully use up the rest of your strips. Gail at the cozy quilter.

Nice progress on your gameboard blocks. I was looking at those just yesterday when I found I had made a note about them. Your fabrics for your Table Scraps project are yummy. The braided squirrel is really pretty!

I see a beautiful english garden project in your future. Lots of pretty purples. Was the braided squirrel hard to do? I have a kit for a braided type bag I have yet to try.

the blocks are nice and colorful. I made a braid border once for a quilt and remember that it was fun to make - I don't know why I never make one again. I have a good book that covers borders and designs to use. I know I used two of them at least.

Lovely projects and yes it is fun to jump around between projects and even some days--going in a whole direction when looking for something and coming across fabric that just has to sewn up right that minute!!! hugs, di

Great projects! I love seeing what you're up to. Good idea to make the squirrel table runner from your scraps right away.

Lovely blocks, Diann. The table runner looks great and gets rid of some leftover scraps. Win-win. Good job! Looking forward to seeing the July project grow. Love the fabric pulled for it. Enjoy! ;^)

As always, you seem to have several wonderful things going, and you seem so organized in how you give all of them a turn under the needle. It always adds up to great progress! Way to go!

So much going on. I really like your blocks -- does it have a name? I might like to try this one -- hum maybe for RSC or maybe my Equilters but I definitely like it!

I had to buy more purple to be able to get my blocks done. I hate purple! Now I need to cut the 7"x7" block I need and then figure out where to dump the leftovers. LOL
