I Like Thursday #421

Good morning, friends!  Isn't this little guy cute?!  He is up on the wall at my mom's place.  They do a great job decorating for seasons and holidays there.  I read recently that it's an important thing to do to help elderly people, especially those with dementia and memory issues (in which category my mom definitely is) pay attention to time and place.  I appreciate it, too, because the decorations make it very pleasant to visit!

We watched a really good movie the other night - "Harriet," about Harriet Tubman.  The main character is played by Cynthia Erivo, who plays the wicked witch in "Wicked."  She's very good!  This was available to us on Hulu, but could be available on other streaming platforms, too.  It came out in 2019 originally.

Carole at From My Carolina Home shared a recipe for Stuffed Peppers in a recent post, and it looked good, so I decided to try it.  Turns out it was yummy!  Carole's recipe says "Stuffed Pepers for Two," but it actually made enough for the three of us and one half of a pepper leftover.

This week I've worked on my Stay at Home Round Robin (see yesterday's post) and also my January table scraps project.  I don't usually share that project until the end of the month, but this is too cute not to share!  The tea cup pattern is from Klein Meisje Quilts.

A little more work to do - I'll share the finish next week.

My MIL is in a long term care home too. I have made her quilted wall hangings for each season. We will soon put her heart wall hanging up. Those tea cups are cute! That looks like a good movie. Gail at the cozy quilter.

The retirement center/rehab facility that I went to after the fall did the same thing. I was there for Valentines Day and Easter decorations on my door. I love the teacup runner. Great way to use a coordinated collection of fabric.

Love your teacups! Those stuffed peppers look delicious, I should make myself some. Hubs doesn't like peppers (can you imagine?), so I would have them all to myself. ;)

The gnome is really cute. You've been busy on the sewing front with the SAHRR and those tea cups. Both projects are lovely. Stay warm!

stuffed peppers are great-I should make one for myself as well I know Mike wouldn't eat one. I have not seen the movie Harriet - I don't get Hulu but I will check and see if it is on anything else.

I think it is good to remember that fun, happy, holiday themed decorations are good for older folks. I know it was great fun for me to come back home in January and see the Christmas decor I had put out. I looked at that stuffed pepper recipe too. I want to try it. Absolutely love your teacup wall hanging/ tabletopper. Gorgeous fabrics! Hope it warms up for you…still cold here, but not minus degrees.

How wonderful you are pleased with the place where your Mom is. that is a comfort in itself. I make stuffed peppers from time to time as they are surprisingly easy to do. How sweet are these cups of yours!

It must be stuffed pepper week! I made them recently and was surprised my kids actually liked them this time. That cup pattern is really cute. We visited the Harriett Tubman museum coming home this summer and it was really neat learning about her life. She was an amazing and fearless woman.
