It has been one of those weeks with not a lot of time for the sewing machine, but I could sit down at the end of the day for some hand stitching, so I did. That helped me get four big blocks of hollow nine patches sewn together.
Just a few more long seams and the top will be together!
I'm planning to hand quilt this, so there's plenty more stitching to do.
This weekend we are in Palisade, Colorado, for a family get together, so I brought along the sunflower embroidery just in case there's some time for a few stitches. Hard to know if I'll even touch it, but I always like bringing something along, just in case!
I might even be stitching a little bit with this view, out the back door of our room!

Have fun at your family reunion! Hope you find some time for some slow stitching this weekend.
Enjoy the family reunion! That embroidery project is really pretty.
Glad you have some handwork for "just in case". Enjoy that family reunion and the view from your room!
love the view! enjoy it while you can and maybe get some relaxing stitching done too
The Hollow nine patches are looking good. Enjoy the time with your family.
Enjoy Palisade!!! Hope the peaches are ready ;-)
Such a lovely view! Have fun & relax with some slow stitchin'!
Hope you were way too busy visiting and exploring to get any stitching done! Was it cooler over there? Hope so!
Your Hollow Nines looks good. I was thinking about sewing mine that way, too! Enjoy your time with your family!
Your hollow nines are sooooo pretty! I saw that golden photo on your IG feed, what a pretty view. Looks like you could walk out your door and start climbing. I don't remember being in western CO - it has a more southwestern look to it - just beautiful!
Have fun with your family! I am amazed that you are doing the rainbow blocks by hand!
The sunflower stitching is looking great! We just got home from our little get away. Hope you are enjoying family time.
What cheerful little 9 patch blocks! Enjoy your time with family!
Family gatherings are always fun. I too like to take a little bit of sewing when I leave the house for a few days. You never know when you will need it. Hallow-9 is coming along beautifully. Enjoy! ;^)
Hand pieced have a soft feel which one doesn’t get with machine pieced quilts. Even if there was no time for hand stitching, the view is enjoyable.
It looks lovely there. Enjoy your family time and stitching!
It always feels good to have a project to take along. We can have our hands idle!
Hope you are having a fun time. I'm wondering if coloring the embroidery in before or after works best? Do you have a preference?
I wish you a wonderful weekend visiting family, Diann. What a lovely vies from your window. I am off on a camping trip and brought along September's embroidery block to work on . I hope you enjoy a bit of slow stitching yourself. Hugs.
Have fun with your slow stitching. These look like perfect projects for summer sewing. Your nine patches are reminding me of a bag of blocks languishing by my chair. They were supposed to be a take-along hand sewing project that I started for a car quilt a few years ago. Then we replaced the car with a different one that just doesn't go with the quilt (ha ha). Maybe I should get over my guilt about not finishing the quilt and finish it quickly by machine.
I hope you are having a nice time with family. The 9-patches look great and the sunflower embroidery is a perfect travel project.
That sunflower project is so sweet! Those nine patches will brighten up someone's day. I've enjoyed watching each installment!
Hope you have a great time with the family. Love your guard bunny. I have a baby bunny that shows himself every once in a while but if I try to get a pic he's too far away or is spooked if he sees me behind the window. You got a great shot.
