Yellow is the perfect summery color for the month of August in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge! This week I focused on finishing up the number of blocks I needed for a couple of my projects. First up were the hand-pieced bowties.
At this point in the year, I always enjoy laying all the blocks out together to see how things are shaping up. There are 64 bowtie blocks so far, and they're starting to look like something!
I also finished up a third yellow zipper block.
These are fun to lay out together, too. I love this bundle of color!
The last group to finish for the month are the Split 9 patches, and they're underway!
Lots of sun in my sewing room this week!

I love all your sunny yellow blocks! And as they join their rainbow block-mates, the riot of color is so energizing! What a fun post!
How you arrange these blocks really amazes me! They work so well visually and that is not an easy task to do! I think that is one reason I am hesitant to do rainbow quilts. But yours are fabulous!
Beautiful sunny blocks! Yellow adds a splash of sunshine to a scrappy quilt. Gail at the Cozy Quilter
I like all your yellows! Wow the bowtie blocks make such a neat pattern all together like that. I really like your zipper blocks. They look a bit Jen Kingwell-ish. Enjoy your weekend!
Lots of sunny blocks! Love how the bowties are coming together.
sunny yellow for sure - I always like to start laying blocks out too and then I can see if I need to make more of certain colors to even the design out somewhat
Your temporary sewing room proved to be very functional as you did quite a lot this week. I love your bowties layout. I'm starting to be tempted by the zipper block as I've seen it a few times on the net. Yours look great! Enjoy! ;^)
Yes, Bow Ties is definitely looking like something...something sweet! And your other sunny yellow blocks too. Happy Stitching dear (am I allowed to still say that).
Ohhh, those 64 bow ties all lined up!!!😍
ooh the bow-tie blocks look amazing all laid out - soooo colourful! Love it !

Your hand stitching is perfection! All of your blocks look great and the quilts are growing...
Super sunny blocks. I love how you put your blocks together before you're done and get a preview. This year's RSC quilts are really shaping up!
Oh those zipper blocks are fun to lay out. Can't wait to see what you do with all of your bow tie blocks as well.
Love all those luscious yellow blocks. I'm still working on the reds and a wee bit of yellow. Sigh. Hopefully I'll get more RSC blocks done.
I am way behind on my RSC blocks, but that yellow might just inspire me to get back on track. I love the bowtie blocks and the zipper blocks--so pretty!
I really love those happy bow ties! So cheerful.
The layout of those bow ties are truly something wonderful! Wow! The zipper blocks look great together too! You've had a great week.
sunshiney yellow here at your place - all of it looking so nice
I used to think yellow was my least favorite color. But, I learned that yellow has the most important job on the color wheel. It makes everything else look better. Now I use it in every quilt.
Pretty sunshiney yellow blocks. I'm sure I've mentioned before how much I live those lovely little bow tie blocks.
Oh, lots of sunshine here! What a nice array of different blocks.
Lots of sunshiny yellow goodness in this post Diann!
Cheerful and sunny blocks, Diann. It is sew much fun to see your blocks all playing happily together.
I admire your hand piecing of the bow tie blocks. This is a beautiful project. The zipper blocks look like fun. The split 9 patch is one I learned from Carole (From My Carolina Home) and is great when you need a "fast quilt". I love it when it is done in a particular color and yellow is perfect & cheerful.
Such a burst of sunshine, Diann! The spaces between the bow ties look like sashes -- maybe not an element for this project, but something to think about. You've inspired me to make zippers, too.
