I Like Thursday #123 - Goodbye, February!

Happy Thursday, friends!  My week began with this little poem in my email inbox.  I love this thought.

"The cosmos is filled with precious gems.
I want to offer a handful of them to you this morning.
Each moment you are alive is a gem,
shining through and containing earth and sky, water and clouds."

So that made me think about how I like Mondays!  (Said no one ever...) Except, right now, each Monday, a new block is posted for the Hand-Pieced QAL, and it's like a little gift each Monday morning.  Then I get to choose fabric, cut pieces, and get started on stitching the new block!

Here is this week's block, main pieces made, and ready to stitch together.

We discovered recently that we can "check out" Acorn TV for a week at a time through our public library, and we've been enjoying watching the different shows it offers in the evenings.  (And that is when I've been doing my hand-piecing.)

Here's a screen shot of what we've recently watched - shows set in Australia, Scotland, England, and Ireland!

I love crafters!  They are so often friendly and generous.  I was standing in line at Starbucks the other day, waiting for my coffee, and the woman next to me pulled out a cute crocheted cup cozy.  Of course, I had to comment on it, "That's so cute!  How did you make it?" and so on.

So, she gave it to me!

A cute, crocheted snowman to keep my coffee warm!

Hope you're having a great week!  I'm happy to welcome March!

Thanks, as always, to LeeAnna, at Not Afraid of Color, for hosting our Thursdays.

We like Mondays now, because we are retired and can't tell the difference between Mondays and Saturdays - lol!
Your blocks are so cute in those fabrics. It seems like I barely get one done and the linkup appears for the next one. I stay just a few days behind but I am really enjoying it too.
I love crafters too. We are kindred spirits. I went to a new (to me) quilt shop recently and had immediate rapport with the store owner. We stood and talked machine needles and Janomes, and it was so good to get to actually talk with someone about quilting. When I finished and started looking around, my husband started talking to her about the antiques she had in the store, so it was a great place to go!

Hi Diann! Well, isn't that coffee cozy just the cutest?!! How clever. I'll bet she has different ones for the seasons. I've always wanted to make some quilted ones . . . yeah, that hasn't happened yet. Maybe soon. ~smile~ Roseanne

How fun that she generously shared that little cozy with you! Crafties are the friendliest people! We enjoy watching Doc Martin, mainly because we enjoyed Martin Clunes in Jeeves & Wooster, and wanted to see him in another role. We weren't disappointed, even though those two character roles are distinctly different! Your little handpieced block reminds me of a mosaic. :-)

Those who create seem to always to be those who are most generous too. I think I need to change my attitude about Mondays....

We subscribe to Acorn and have watched all those shows, and many more. I love them.
A coffee cozy is so cute and the story with this one is wonderful.
Your blues are so pretty; I'm enjoying seeing the array of colours folks are choosing for the hand quilt along blocks.

I am so glad you did not comment on her dress :-D A similar gesture would have raised many eyebrows. OK, jokes part, your appreciation was genuine and her response was the sweetest!!! Hope you have a great weekend.

What a great poem. When I wasn't working and the boys were in elementary school, I loved Mondays ;) What a cute coffee cozy and how kind of the woman to give it to you. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!

That's a cute cup cozy. It has me thinking I want a cup of hot chocolate right now. I like the design of your quilt. It reminds me of jigsaw puzzles which I like to do.

cool that she gave you that cute cozy! Love all the quilting you've been doing Diann. Didn't know about rent-an-acorn, wonder if we can rent things like STarz (outlander)
Now you should find 800 words on ACORN... we watched the final episode last night... I'll miss it so.
