Once I finished up creating the two new green hearts out of the original one (my Wednesday post), I finished up the alternate four patch chain block in orange.
Then I just had to lay all the blocks out together. It's my favorite thing to do at this point in the year. I'm definitely happier with the two green blocks - it's good to see what this looks like with them in the mix.
I know now that I'll need three more hearts and three more alternate blocks. I'm thinking probably browns, gray/black, and maybe a darker yellow/gold.
Time to go hunting in the scraps again!

So fun to see all your blocks together! This is going to be a fantastic quilt! Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the orange! Those blocks are so pretty - they all look really good together.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is coming along! I really like the layout
ReplyDeleteOrange is such a good color, and your blocks are looking great!
ReplyDeleteLove what you're doing with these hearts, Diann.
ReplyDeleteGlad you remade the green block(s). I am attracted to orange but rarely use it because UT (Univ of Tenn) fans are so fanatical about orange and we are Vandy fans, having two graduates from there.
ReplyDeleteThe layout for your hearts looks terrific. I love when alternate blocks create a secondary pattern with motion.
ReplyDeleteWow - the hearts and chain blocks look wonderful together like that.
ReplyDeleteThose hearts and chains will make a very fun quilt. It's fun to get close to finished on those RSC projects, but it always used to make me a bit sad too. Some of the RSC quilt blocks are just so fun you don't want to be done.
ReplyDeleteThose are looking great and I love your plan for finishing it off.
ReplyDeleteI think a gold would be a good addition and also the darker browns and grays you mentioned! It’s a wonderful quilt!
ReplyDeleteI just love the way the two blocks you chose work together. Perhaps the color wheel on the right side of your post is a place to start for which color to use next.
ReplyDeleteGood job on separating the green hearts into two shades. They absolutely look much better. The layout is fabulous and going to be even better by the time ALL the blocks are made. Hope you're having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSplitting the green into two was definitely a great choice. It's looking so great!
ReplyDeleteThis project is coming along so well.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing project! I've enjoyed watching each installment of blocks!
ReplyDeleteI can see why it is your favorite thing to do, gathering up all the colors in one quilt is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI do love your hearts and four patch combo, going to make a lovely quilt. xx
ReplyDeleteThe heart looks great in orange. I love the way this quilt is coming together.
ReplyDeleteYour green blocks came out better than ever! Ohh, the layout is looking so cute, Diann!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is really a sweet quilt and yes, I love the layout as well. You're so good with the scraps!
ReplyDeleteOooh all of your blocks look awesome, Diann. Love the alternate blocks. This is going to be one adorable quilt. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI do like the chaining with the blocks - wonderful
