I've participated in the Stay at Home Round Robin for three years now, and just had to join in again this year! The last two years, I've used an embroidered block as my center block and have been happy with the results.
2022:
2023:
I have purposefully chosen to create small pieces - wall-hanging size - so that I don't get too overwhelmed with the quilt getting bigger and bigger and running out of background fabric. Since last year's project was winter-themed, I've decided that this year's will be summer-themed, with the goal of eventually having something to hang for each season.
So, here's my center block choice for my 2024 SAHRR. This is a summery design from Melisa at PinkernPunkin Quilting.
I pulled some scraps from my stash to give an idea of the colors I'm going to focus on - reds and yellows. Chances are I will need to do a little stash enhancement along the way, too - but I don't mind that!
Looking forward to seeing what our first border prompt will be!
Meanwhile, linking up with Quilting Gail for the Center Block week.

I have done a round robin with prompts before …a fun way to build a quilt! I like your centre block for 2024!
ReplyDeleteI remember this block! This is going to be fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI like your scheme. I never finished the last one! I think I have another matching orphan block so I could end up with a pair.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a better idea than using a summer theme for your SAHRR during this cold blast we are having! You will enjoy those summer vibes as we work on our borders! So glad you are joining in with us this year!
ReplyDeletethat is going to be cute!
ReplyDeleteI hope making a summer quilt keeps you warm. I always enjoy your embroidery.
ReplyDeleteLove the block and the colors you decided on. I just need to finish the borders on my center block and I'm ready to go. Looking forward to seeing how you interpret each prompt.
ReplyDeleteI love that embroidery, and the colors are going to be so fun! I look forward to seeing your progress.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric pull. . .it looks like you "shopped" for them all at the same time! You are wise to work small! I will enjoy watching your progress!
ReplyDeleteThis will be another lovely project for the qal, Diann. You have just the perfect fabrics for each of your projects.
ReplyDeleteA nice summery quilt in mid-winter-- I love it! Reds and yellows will be quite vibrant, too. It will look great photographed against the snow.
ReplyDeleteYour SAHRR quilt show is inspiring me to join in this year. I especially like the lemonade square.
ReplyDeleteI wish we would do another round robin in my quilt guild. It was so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI love your lemonade block. It' a great idea to make a hanging for each season :)

Great choice!!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your comment on my SAHRR post, I had to come take a look at how you did your last couple of wall quilts. I think you have the right idea. Make some of the blocks and assemble later in the event. I am going to follow suit Diann! Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! this will be a fun and happy one!!!
