After finishing up the last two houses for the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL, I knew I couldn't do anything with them until I found the right sashing and border fabric. So I started in on some blue zipper blocks. In our previous month of blue I had made two dark blocks and one light, so this month I did the opposite.
The fun part of making these blocks is
picking out the contrasting fabric for the center!
Eighteen blocks made so far.
As the week went on, I did find a dark blue fabric that will work for the Neighbourhood quilt. I love the stars on it!
So this coming week, my plan is to get the sashing on these blocks,
and hopefully get the top together in time for the first quilt parade over at mmmquilts,
which starts on June 15th. Fingers crossed!

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the houses with the starry sashing! So cute. I have to admit, when I first saw the zipper block out there in the blogosphere, I wasn't a fan. However, your renditions made me change my mind. I like them.
ReplyDelete18 zips looking GREAT! It's a cool pattern for scraps & RSC. I like doing a few with the solid in the middle and the RSC on the outside. It's going to be a fun one to sew up into a top one day.
