In our family, we've been Colorado Rockies baseball fans since 1993 when they came to town.
When purple was named the color for July and Joy added circles, spots, and dots to the challenge, I knew I'd be working with some Colorado Rockies fabric I had leftover from making my son a pillow cover for his birthday. Purple's our color and what better represents a circle than a baseball?!
Lots of squares in a checkerboard pattern.
The background is leftovers of the Tula Pink Fairy Dust
that I've used in my Crumb Hearts quilt.
It goes really nicely with purple!
This tabletopper was made for the table in between our comfy chairs in the family room, and fits it perfectly at about 18 x 13.
Dots for the backing and binding for the win!
And putting it to use already -
Also this week, I took these two fat quarters and turned them into something for our dinner table.
This grape print is from the fat quarter bundle of food fabric that I purchased last fall, and have been using to make new cloth napkins for us this year. So far, I've made an apple set, a banana set, and now the grapes.
The inside fabric is from Anna Maria Horner's Conservatory line.
I've made many sets of these over the years and they get lots of use at our house!
We haven't been able to go to a Rockies game at Coors field for a few years, but hope to get back there sometime soon. Until then, we'll remember the good times we've had there!

Great idea Diann, and your new purple table topper is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at your resourcefulness.
ReplyDeleteGood for you to meet the Table Scrap goal with something useful. I have good intentions but haven't met that goal as often as I thought I would.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! I love that you've used the baseball fabric with fairy dust - it looks great! And you used the gingham pattern. :) Those cloth napkins are beautiful. I may have asked this before, but do they need pressing after washing?
ReplyDeleteall neat looking fabrics and the napkins are pretty. I have never enjoyed sports games other than basketball lol - I'm not a sports person
ReplyDeleteWhat a great use for your extra Colorado Rockies fabric. I hope you are able to see some games again soon, it looks like you were having so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThat grape fabric is so cute! You will have some great table decor using all of these purples. The Colorado Rockies print has such a good graphic print and it looks good even cut small.
ReplyDeleteWow! how clever to bring baseball home if you can’t go there yourself! I love that Rockies table topper! (Lifelong L.A. Dodgers fan here). I must begin following your example by making cloth napkins - yours are adorable!
ReplyDeleteCoors Field is a pretty cool stadium; I hope you get back there sometime soon! Your little Rockies mini mat is perfect for cheering them on while sipping a favorite beverage!
ReplyDeleteSo tickled to see the Rockies fabric. Our daughter is a huge baseball, and especially Rockies, fan. I think your little table topper is a Grand Slam hit! Purple, dots, circle (baseball) and a topper! Well Done!
ReplyDeleteWell, you hit a based-loaded home run with your newest table mat (or maybe you covered all the bases). I got as far as pulling out the purple scraps, but there's a week left in July so I may get some RSC blocks done.
ReplyDeleteHot here, but I guess it's hot everywhere.
Pat
Such great ideas, I love seeing what you produce each week!
ReplyDeleteLove the purple baseball fabrics and all the fruity napkins, great idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the table topper. Love the combo with the binding dots and the background spots. You are right on the money with the Table Scrap Challenge. I too make fabric napkins but they aren't as lovely as yours. Hope you can get to a real-life time game soon. They are always better than TV. ;^)
ReplyDeleteAnother great little table topper!!! Love the sentiment and memories!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you return soon for another baseball game. We've a few hears without attending in-person football games at our alma mater. I hope we get to return this fall and that we feel comfortable sitting in the stands for the whole game! Love your table topper. . .those dots were the perfect choice!
ReplyDeleteThat's the perfect table topper for baseball season, Diann. I have some St. Louis Cardinals fabric you could have used for the backing! Ha!
ReplyDeleteNice job turning those scraps into something useful and fun. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great runner to have as you cheer on your team. Hope you are able to attend a game again soon.
ReplyDeletePURPLE and circles, you've got them! Thanks for sharing with the July 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge, Diann. Looking forward to seeing your new table runner, too!
