Although my sewing time has been kind of limited this week, I've been determined to stay focused on finishing my Easy Breezy quilt, and I'm getting close!
Finish sewing the quilt top together...done!
Piece a backing... done!
The main backing fabric looks orange in this photo, but it is actually a yellow with tiny orange dots all over it. (The picture of the whole backing up above is closer to the real color.) Apparently I had a scrap of it that was also used for the center block of the quilt!
When I brighten up the photos for Blogger it changes the tone of some fabrics -
does anyone else have that happen?
A full bobbin, a new needle, and I was ready to quilt!
As of Friday afternoon, the quilting was about 3/4 completed, and the binding has been made.
Binding will be the same Kona Alegria I used for the cornerstones
and is also on the back.
Happy quilting from the Little Penguins!

Great progress on this beautiful Rainbow quilt, Diann. I like the serpentine stitch you are using for quilting, and the binding fabric looks perfect for it. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilt for a cold day! It's adorable and I love the backing! Have a safe and happy day!
ReplyDeleteLooking really great, Diann. It's so cheery, and I love the backing. Happy quilting!
ReplyDeleteYou are making good progress, Diann! Love the penguins .. so appropriate. That's a really fun quilt. Makes me want to get back to my own Easy Breezy blocks!
ReplyDeleteYou are nearing the finish line!! Have a great and productive weekend.
ReplyDeleteI never spray baste after one time when my quilt was way too stiff - I think I used too much spray - do you not find it gums up your needles too much? I probably put way too much spray on!
ReplyDeleteGetting photos that show true color is sometimes a huge challenge for me too. This is such a cute little scrappy quilt. Can't beat the simple 9-patch.
ReplyDeleteVery cute and I love the quilting on this.
ReplyDeleteYou are well on your way to the finish line on this bright and happy quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour Easy Breezy is super cute! Have fun getting it quilted up.
ReplyDeleteWell done! You certainly made short work of this finish. I've never used basting spray, just the old fashioned safety pins.
ReplyDeleteYippee for almost done! It will be such a cheery quilt. And I share your day of celebration, but mine is a birthday on Jan 9th!
ReplyDeleteClosing in on that RSC finish, Diann? Happy trimming and binding!! :o))
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I LOVE pieced backs. It's really nice how you coordinated the binding with the cornerstones to pull it all together. I don't have too many problems with the color changing from my camera to my blog when I take photos indoors. I use an old Nikon Cook Pic (which is a $30 camera on eBay most times.) For some reason some of my outdoor photos change color. It must have to do with the lighting for me.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is filled with so much happy bright colours. Love the bright yellow on the back of the quilt. The binding reminds me of the beach and summer. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteGotta love those cute little penguins! Great scrappy quilt with the perfect scrappy back, and your pretty binding will tie it all together. Happy quilting!
ReplyDeleteYou're on the home stretch. Great job! Love the back too.
ReplyDeleteIf I take pictures with my phone, the colours can be different. With my camera, the colours are exactly the same. I don't know what could make it different so I have no solution for you. Good luck with that. ;^)
Congratulations on an almost complete quilt! The binding is going to be a perfect accent to finish it off. Love the serpentine quilting.
ReplyDeleteYipee for an almost finish! I love that serpentine stitch and the walking foot for quilting too! I like your Easy Breezy is looking terrific! I like your pieced back especially incorporating the extra blocks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun almost finish! Such a fun scrappy quilt, my favorite kind.
ReplyDeleteSuper quilt Diann! And I love the backing too!
